Samsung has big plans for its upcoming Galaxy S8 flagship smartphone.

According to The Investor, industry sources claim that Samsung has set a shipment target of 60 million units for the Galaxy S8. Based on estimates, the Galaxy S8 has a higher shipment goal compared to the Galaxy S7 (48 million), Galaxy S6 (45 million) and the Galaxy S5 (45 million). The release date is also said to have been pushed back to mid-April.

While mass production of the Galaxy S8 will start in March, Samsung is expected to showcase a small number of the handsets in February or March. This suggests that Samsung may be looking at an official announcement at Mobile World Congress 2017.

The Investor's latest reports are in line with what've have been reported so far. Korean publication Naver reported days ago that the Galaxy S8 could hit retail shelves on 18th April although it expects a launch event in late March or early April. ETNews also reported that Samsung is preparing 10 million units of the Galaxy S8 for launch in April

The Galaxy S8 is rumored to have a S Pen as an external accessory, a pair of new wireless in-ear headphones, a dual-camera system, Bluetooth 5, no 3.5mm headphone jack, no home button, a new display which is pressure sensitive, 6GB RAM, storage options up to 256GB, virtual reality features, an artificial intelligence assistant, no hardware navigation keys, a front-facing autofocus camera, and a performance enhancing program called "Beast Mode".
