The Galaxy S8 could be available for purchase on 18 April

Korean publication Naver claims that the Galaxy S8 will hit retail shelves on 18 April.

Samsung is said to have decided on the date of availability for its upcoming Galaxy S8 smartphone.

Based on information provided by industry insiders, Korean publication Naver claims that the Galaxy S8 will hit retail shelves on 18th April. Samsung is expected to hold a launch event in late March or early April.

Initial reports suggested that Samsung would launch the Galaxy S8 at Mobile World Congress 2017, but the date is reportedly being pushed back to allow more time for Samsung to work with external agencies to restore consumer confidence. Just two days ago, ETNews claimed that Samsung is preparing 10 million units of the Galaxy S8 for its launch in April.

The Galaxy S8 is rumored to have a S Pen as an external accessory, a pair of new wireless in-ear headphones, a dual-camera system, Bluetooth 5, no 3.5mm headphone jack, no home button, a new display which is pressure sensitive, 6GB RAM, storage options up to 256GB, virtual reality features, an artificial intelligence assistant, no hardware navigation keys, a front-facing autofocus camera, and a performance enhancing program called "Beast Mode".
