Samsung may be making virtual reality (VR) as the secret weapon of its upcoming Galaxy S8 smartphone.
Samsung is reportedly focusing on virtual reality for the Galaxy S8 smartphone next year.
According to Forbes, the rumored specs of the Galaxy S8 such as ARM's Mali-G71, a 4K display and an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset suggest that the phone's secret weapon will be virtual reality (VR).
Having designed and launched several Gear VR models, Samsung should have the experience, expertise and consumer data to help it implement a low-cost VR solution for the Galaxy S8. Moreover, Samsung's partnership with Oculus can continue to boost its credibility as a viable VR platform.
With curved displays becoming the norm in the industry, the push for VR on the Galaxy S8 could help Samsung position itself as an innovative brand and rebuild trust in the Galaxy brand after the Note7's battery saga.
