Samsung refutes rumors of an earlier release for the Galaxy S8
Contrary to popular belief and rumors, Samsung will not push forward the release of the Galaxy S8. Are they afraid to rush it?
Samsung will not rush to announce the Galaxy S8 even after the demise of its Galaxy Note7.
According to ETNews, a high-ranking Samsung official claimed that the company currently has no plans to release the Galaxy S8 early. It is slated for an official launch at Mobile World Congress 2017 at the end of February and will hit retail shelves globally from mid-March.
The official reiterates that the company is focusing its efforts on investigating the causes of explosions in the Galaxy Note7 to regain consumer confidence. Its focus on the development of the Galaxy S8 is not affected by the Galaxy Note7 saga.
Galaxy Note7 users may receive cash incentives to upgrade to the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy Note8 when they are launched next year. For consumers in South Korea, Samsung has rolled out the Galaxy Upgrade program where they only need to pay half the price of the Galaxy S7 or S7 edge to exchange for the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy Note8.
The Galaxy S8 is rumored to come with a curved screen model only, a 4K display, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, VR-related features, no physical home button and a dual-camera module.
