Samsung trademarks "LightUp Camera" and "Light+ Camera" for the Galaxy S8

Samsung has filed two trademark registrations in South Korea for "LightUp Camera" and "Light+ Camera". Could these trademark filings be for the Galaxy S8?

While Samsung is busy investigating the reported incidents involving replaced Galaxy Note7 units, it is also focusing on getting the Galaxy S8 ready for launch next year.

First spotted by Galaxyclub.nl, Samsung has filed two trademark registrations in South Korea for "LightUp Camera" and "Light+ Camera". Both trademarks describe a "camera sensor for use in enhancing the brightness and clearness of digital images and photographs taken in low-light environments".

It is speculated that these trademarks are filed for the purported dual-camera module of the Galaxy S8. The South Korean company is also said to be developing a suite of software features to take advantage of the dual-camera module. ETNews reported a few days ago that Samsung is still considering whether to equip the Galaxy S8 with an all-in-one dual-camera module or have two separate cameras

The Galaxy S8 is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2017 although it could be unveiled earlier to offset the decline in sales of the Galaxy Note7.
