IT Show 2024.
IT Show 2024 is the first big physical consumer tech show of the year, and it's happening right now at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre levels 3 and 4. There are plenty of products to try, and good deals can be found if you look hard enough. I went down to have a look-see with the rest of the HWZ team, and here are some of my favourite deals that I've found.
Don't forget to catch all of our IT Show 2024 coverage at the Tech Show Portal where you'll also find full brochure listings, interesting articles, reviews, and more.
Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation)
Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation).
I think the Apple AirPods (2nd generation) are great for anyone with an Apple iPhone or iPad, especially if they use an iPhone 15 Pro series (since it's all USB-C this way).
The earlier Pro was known for its Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) capabilities. This version also has new features, like Adaptive Audio, Personalised Volume, and Conversation Awareness, which I think are nice and helpful.
The Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation) is currently on sale at the Challenger booths (Booth 318) for S$300. (U.P. S$362.25). Challenger also includes a free wireless charger worth $19.90 to charge your brand-new AirPods Pro.
Acer Swift X 14 OLED
Acer Swift X 14.
If I had to choose a lightweight portable laptop with discrete graphics for rendering work on the go, the Acer Swift X 14 OLED (SFX14-71G-59RB) would be one of my choices.
At just 1.55kg, the Acer Swift X 14 OLED features a 14.5-inch OLED panel (2,880 x 1,800 pixels resolution), a 13th-generation Intel i5-13500H processor, and, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 (6GB GDDR6 VRAM) GPU within.
The variant in the photo has 16GB of DDR5 RAM and 1TB Gen 4 SSD for storage, which should be sufficient for school, work, and personal use.
The Acer Swift X 14 OLED is available at the Best Denki booth (8105) for S$1,298, down from its listed U.P. of $1,798.

Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 NC
Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 NC.
The Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 NC has Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), 11mm drivers, and supports the LDAC codec for high-res audio. Anker also touts 10 hours of battery life on its own and up to 50 hours if you include the charging case.
A companion app comes with the Liberty 4 NC, and it allows you to customise the earbuds. You can change the controls on the stem, choose one of the 22 EQ presets, or even set your own EQ for the earbuds.
The Soundcore Liberty 4 NC is S$129.90 at IT Show 2024 (U.P. S$249.95). You can find the earbuds at the Challenger booth on level 3.
AOC 24G4 gaming monitor
AOC 24G4 gaming monitor.
I think the AOC 24G4 IPS gaming monitor has good value for a no-frills gaming monitor, even if its features and specs are not cutting-edge or extravagant.
The 23.8-inch IPS gaming monitor has a Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution) IPS panel, 180Hz refresh rate, support for Adaptive Sync, 1ms GtG response time, HDR10 support, and 300 nits of typical brightness. It also offers the two most essential display input ports, HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4 (both with HDCP 2.2).
Other perks include a slightly adjustable stand (swivel, pivot, and tilt) and a built-in Dial Point feature that puts an accurate crosshair on the display itself.
As a true value pick, the AOC 24G4 gaming monitor costs S$199 (U.P $339) at the CR Group booth (8121). The brochure also stated that buying the 24G4 comes with a free AOC GK200 Keyboard (worth $69).
HP Notebook 15
HP Notebook 15.
Decent laptops can be affordable, and the HP Notebook 15 (15-fc0044AU) is one such option available at the IT Show 2024.
The 15.6-inch notebook is powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 7520 processor with Radeon graphics. It has 8GB of DDR5 RAM, 512GB NVME M.2 SSD, and an FHD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution) IPS display. The notebook is certainly capable of handling basic tasks, from web browsing to creating spreadsheets.
For its price of just S$699 (U.P $807) at the challenger booth, the HP Notebook 15 is an accessible laptop at a reasonable price point.
Magnetic Wireless Power Bank E43B-B
Magnetic Wireless Power Bank E43B-B.
Watching shows can drain my iPhone battery while waiting for my friends to turn up and hang out. If they’re not punctual, my hands and arms can tire from holding up the phone. I might have found an answer to these problems.
I found this unbranded power bank at CR Group’s booth. After asking the floor staff and trying out the sample unit, I learnt it was a pocket-sized, 10,000mAh power bank compatible with the MagSafe feature on my iPhone. More importantly, it has a built-in kickstand and can hold the phone upright on a desk or any flat surface. It even comes with a digital display to show its remaining capacity.
This power bank retails for S$44.90 on e-commerce websites, while CR Group (Booth (8121) has it for S$39.90 (down from its usual price of S$51) in four colours. Be sure to try it out before buying to see if it also suits your needs.
Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 gaming monitor
Samsung Odyssey OLED G9.
When I first saw the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 monitor, it was a jaw-dropping experience. Not only was it a 49-inch ultra-wide monitor, but it also had an immersive viewing experience thanks to its 1800R curvature.
The OLED panel has QHD (5,120 x 1,440 pixels resolution) quality at a 32:9 aspect ratio. The monitor also features a 240Hz refresh rate, a 0.03ms GtG response time, and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio with VESA's DisplayHDR True Black 400.
For display needs, it has one DisplayPort 1.4, one HDMI 2.1, one Micro HDMI 2.1, and a USB Hub with three USB-C (USB 3.0) ports. The Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 also supports wireless connectivity, with built-in Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2 capabilities.
The Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 is at the challenger booth at level 3 for S$2,488, down from its original price of S$3,399.

SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini
SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini.
The SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini is a 60% gaming keyboard with proprietary SteelSeries OmniPoint 2.0 Adjustable HyperMagnetic switches. These switches can change their actuation point to your liking (between 0.1mm and 4.0mm).
This is on top of other perks, like mapping two actions to one key (binding both in-game walking and sprinting to the same key, but triggered based on how hard I'm pressing), and being able to trigger keys again the moment you lift your finger, instead of waiting for it to go past the reset point.
Weighing 610g, the Apex Pro Mini also has per-key RGB illumination, a detachable USB Type-C cable, and rubber tri-level feet to adjust height.
Originally priced at $399, the Apex Pro Mini is now on sale for S$224 (a massive discount) at Booth 8119, the Endless Passion SteelSeries booth.
