A reliable source in the accessory industry has shared new information on Apple's upcoming iPhones with Engadget such as bigger displays and dual front-facing cameras.
The source reportedly told Engadget that Apple will bump up the screen sizes of the iPhones; there will be a 5.0-inch model (up from 4.7-inch) and a 5.8-inch model (up from 5.5-inch). Renders based on a highly detailed CAD file provided by the source indicate that both iPhones will have a slightly taller, wider and thicker chassis.
In addition, the renders suggest that the smaller iPhone model will have a dual-camera setup on the back. Both iPhones are believed to have a vertical dual-lens camera layout, which lines up with a report by Japanese site MacOtakara in December 2016. The microphone and flash are going to be part of the camera bump as well.
Wireless charging will also be a standard feature across the two models as there is a defined cut-out area on the underside of the chassis to fit a wireless charging coil. More importantly, the renders reveal dual front-facing cameras and a fingerprint sensor which is flushed with the display. The two front-facing cameras could be the "revolutionary" 3D-sensing cameras that KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo spoke about in February.
The latest renders corroborate with previous reports of a purported iPhone 8 schematic and concept images. However, it contradicts several reports of Apple releasing three iPhone models this year.
