Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event date leaked alongside product lineup

The date and announcement lineup for Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event might have just been leaked, reaffirming earlier speculation. 

According to tipster Alvin on X (formerly Twitter), the event is set to take place on 23 January 2025 in San Jose, California, with the event scheduled to begin at 2 AM Singapore Time. This location and timing align with Samsung’s tradition, as Galaxy Unpacked 2024 was also held in San Jose on 18 January.

This latest leak aligns with previous reports, including one from the Financial Times of South Korea and other industry insiders suggesting a late-January event timeline. Initial rumours pointed to dates ranging from 13 January to 23 January, but the newest information corroborates 22 January as the more likely date.

Besides unveiling its latest flagship devices, including the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra, the event is likely to feature Project Moohan, Samsung's upcoming XR (Extended Reality) headset powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip on Google’s new operating system for XR devices, Android XR. 

Announced earlier this month, Android XR is Google’s new operating system designed for extended reality (XR) devices, including augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR) headsets. Developed in collaboration with Samsung and Qualcomm, it powers the upcoming Project Moohan headset with features like Gemini AI, compatibility with Google Play apps, and reworked Google apps like YouTube, Google TV, and 3D Google Photos. While Project Moohan is confirmed to launch in 2025, the Galaxy Unpacked event will unlikely include its full release. Instead, Samsung will most likely provide a preview, which might consist of revealing its official name and teasing a launch timeline.

As for its official release date, the device is more likely to officially debut later in the year, potentially alongside Samsung's next-generation foldable phones.  

In addition to the new hardware, the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event will most likely announce the One UI 7 update, which will debut on the Galaxy S25 series. 

Should the 22 January event date hold true, it will mark the start of Samsung’s 2025 product cycle along with more details about Project Moohan’s launch timeline and features, which may be revealed during the presentation. For now, we'll have to wait till Samsung officially announces the event details.
