Samsung has shared some updates about the progress of its Android 15 reskin, One UI 7.
As seen at the Samsung Developer Conference 2024 (SDC 2024) in San Jose, One UI 7 is definitely coming, but it will be much later than Samsung’s usual rollout timeline.
One UI 7 will have an all-new design, but Samsung was very tight-lipped about how it'll look like and what new features will come. Screenshot: Samsung (YouTube).
The keynote had one section dedicated to One UI 7 (starts at 22:18), as presented by Jeong Hyesoon, Samsung’s Executive Vice President of the Head of Framework R&D, Mobile Experience department. It showcased upcoming changes and a forecasted date for the new Samsung mobile UI.
One UI 7 is said to include a complete redesign of its interface, with a focus on simplicity and elements that promote better organisation. The keynote talked about One UI 7’s Home Screen Grid, which comes with Good Lock personalisation, implying that you can freely personalise the Home Screen without worrying about it becoming messy.
Sadly, One UI 7 won't be ready this year, with the official release bundled together with the upcoming Galaxy S25 series in 2025. Screenshot: Samsung (YouTube).
According to Samsung, One UI 7’s beta will be released later this year and officially “released next year with the next Galaxy S series”. This confirms several things: One UI 7 won’t be available on any of Samsung’s older devices until the Galaxy S25 series is out, and Samsung is launching the Galaxy S25 series in 2025 (the latter sounds obvious, but nothing’s taken for granted until it’s confirmed, and even plans can change).
The keynote is quite interesting (especially if you're an app developer for the vast variety of Samsung platforms and appliances out there). You can watch the rest of it below if you're also interested in home appliance AI and any changes to your future Samsung devices:
