The mass production of OLED panels for the Apple iPhone 15 has started according to TheElec.

According to the Korean publication, Apple has signed off on the final Product Validation Test (PVT) stage for the four iPhone 15 models and gave Samsung the go-ahead to enter mass production.

Among the three display suppliers, Samsung is said to be the only one to gain approval for mass production. LG Display is given conditional approval on the condition that it makes a few enhancements. Chinese display supplier BOE is unlikely to begin mass production anytime soon as it reportedly experienced poor yields and light leakage around the display panels.

TheElec also has news about another production issue, and that is yield rates of the periscope lens module for the iPhone 15 Pro Max are said to be below expectations. This might impact production of the iPhone 15 Pro Max and affect stock availability at launch.

An analyst claimed in July that the iPhone 15 launch could be delayed by several weeks due to purported display manufacturing issues for the Pro models. However, Bloomberg expects the production issue to be resolved in a few weeks and there "will not be a noticeable impact on overall production".
