Despite reports of a major revamp in its smartphone strategy next year, Samsung plans to keep the design and look of the Galaxy S7 similar to the current Galaxy S6.

According to the Korea Times, Samsung sources claim that the company will not be spending too much "on a surface overhaul" as smartphones have become commoditized. The success of the Galaxy J series in the last quarter led Samsung to think that price and hardware specs are what consumers want, not design.

The Korea Times - "As the S6 and S6 Edge represented progress, the S7 will have improvements both in picture quality, performance and other some new features. But because smartphones have already been commoditized, you don't need to spend more on a surface overhaul," another source said by telephone.

"The key point is can consumers enjoy content with enhanced viewing quality and boosted processing speed," he said.

The Galaxy S7 is rumored to be launched on 21st February and will come in two display sizes. One of the models is said to have a display that curves at the top and bottom. Samsung is also alleged to be implementing a pressure-sensitive display and equip the Galaxy S7 with its next generation Exynos 8 Octa 8890 processor.
