Samsung is pulling out all stops to ensure that it continues to be the leading smartphone maker in the world. Not only is it releasing the Galaxy S7 smartphone earlier than expected, the South Korean company is embarking on a complete revamp of its smartphone strategy next year.

According to ETNews, Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S7 will be announced in January 2016 so as to "block off effects of new iPhones". Samsung reportedly has started negotiating supply and demand of the different components for the Galaxy S7. The Galaxy S7 is said to come with a one-chip design that integrates modem and application processor.

As for its smartphone strategy, Samsung will be dividing flagship models into "premium" and "sub-premium". The company sees this as a strategic move to establish a more premium brand image among its competitors. Moreover, Samsung will continue to rely on its Exynos processors for the Galaxy S7 and other devices.

The Galaxy S7 is rumored to come with a pressure-sensitive display which will be available in two sizes (5.2 and 5.8-inches). It would probably join the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium as the only phones in the market to have 4K displays.
