Samsung could have addressed the most glaring bugbear of its foldable phones with the rumoured launch of the Galaxy Fold6 Special Edition.
According to reliable tipster @UniverseIce, Samsung has "done a good job in crease control" on the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition. The tipster added that it is "better than ever".
As mentioned in our review of the Galaxy Z Fold6, the display crease is one of the biggest annoyances of Samsung's foldable phones. It diminishes the highly accurate annotating experience of the S Pen on the Galaxy Z Fold6.
Even after six generations of foldable phones, Samsung hasn't been successful in making the display crease less obvious. What's more damning is that its competitors have successfully minimised their display's creases in a shorter period.
The Honor Magic Vs, launched in 2022, offers a creaseless display. The Oppo Find N3, which we reviewed in November 2023, has one of the least noticeable creases on a foldable phone. The Vivo X Fold3 Pro, announced in June this year, also has a less visible crease on its foldable display.
Samsung is believed to start pre-orders for the Galaxy Fold6 Special Edition on 18 October with retail availability from 25 October. Leaked renders reveal a thinner design, a slightly different camera island design, and a brushed metal look for the device.
