New EMUI 9.1 updates bring useful new features to the Huawei P30 Lite and Mate 20 Pro
In short: the Huawei P30 Lite is getting a Night Mode for the front camera, and the Mate 20 Pro is getting DC dimming.
Last week, we reported that Huawei is pushing out an EMUI 9.1 update that adds a Night Mode to the P30 Pro’s selfie camera.
According to Huawei Central, this update is also coming to the the most affordable member of the P30 series: the P30 Lite.
In addition to taking brighter pictures with the selfie camera, the EMUI 9.1 update (version 9.1.0.215) also adds GPU Turbo 3.0, which should bring about better gaming performance with lower power consumption.
There’s also good news for owners of last year’s Mate 20 Pro. According to GSMArena, Huawei has started rolling out a new EMUI 9.1 update (9.1.0.135) in China that adds a DC dimming feature to the phone.
For the uninitiated, by directly manipulating the voltage to adjust brightness, DC dimming provides an alternative for users who can notice and are bothered by the flickering of the existing PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) dimming. This tech is used on LCDs for years, but has recently made the jump to OLEDs due to the popularity of OLED phones.
