PC Show 2018 highlights
The 28th edition of the PC Show is happening at the Marina Bay Sands, from today May 31 to June 3 (Sunday). Held in Halls A, B, and C at Level 1, doors will open 12pm to 9pm each of these four days. The Fenix 5 is Garmin’s flagship fitness tracker/smartwatch. The Fenix 5 Sapphire multisport GPS watch is available from S$851 (U.P. S$899). The smaller Fenix 5S is available from S$711 (U.P. S$759) to S$951 (U.P. S$999). The Fenix 5X comes with full-color map guidance and sells for S$951 (U.P. S$999). All Fenix 5 variations come with S$48 cash back.
The Garmin Forerunner 645 Music with Garmin Pay is a GPS running watch that comes with storage for music, which you can download from selected music streaming services, or transfer via PC. The watch sells for S$641 (U.P. S$669) with S$28 cash back.
Samsung

The ASUS ZenFone 5 is ASUS' newest flagship smartphone and boasts a metal and glass design, a 6.2-inch IPD LCD display with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio and a 2,246 x 1,080 pixels resolution (~402ppi), a dual rear camera setup with AI capabilities, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor. Honor
The newly-launched Honor 10 has a 5.84-inch LCD notched display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and 2,280 x 1,080 pixels resolution (~432ppi). It has an under-glass ultrasonic fingerprint scanner below the display, a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom of the phone and a dual rear camera on the back. The dual-camera system is similar to Huawei's P20, and pairs a 16-megapixel f/1.8 RGB sensor with a 24-megapixel f/1.8 monochrome sensor. On the front, there's a 24-megapixel selfie camera. The Honor 10 is powered by the same Kirin 970 processor that's inside Huawei's P20 and P20 Pro. Get one at the PC Show for just S$579.
Huawei
The Huawei P20 Pro is Huawei's latest flagship and boasts the first Leica co-engineered triple camera setup on a smartphone with a 40-megapixel f/1.8 RGB lens, a 20-megapixel f/1.6 monochrome lens, and an f/2.4 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Get one from the PC Show for S$1,148 and get a free backpack worth S$79 and Xiaomi wireless speaker.

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro is a 6-inch phone has a FullView OLED HDR display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and Full HD+ 2,160 x 1,080 pixels resolution. OnePlus
OnePlus' latest flagship boasts a 6.28-inch, 2280 x 1080-pixel AMOLED display (19:9 aspect ratio) and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. On the rear there's a dual camera setup pairing a 16-megapixel f/1.7 lens with a 20-megapixel f/1.7 secondary lens which is used for Portrait Mode. Get one from the PC Show for S$899.
Oppo
The Oppo R15 Pro is Oppo's latest flagship and sports a 6.26-inch display with a 2,280 x 1,080 pixels resolution. On the rear, it has a 16-megapixel + 20-megapixel dual camera setup with a Sony IMX519 sensor. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor with 6GB RAM and has 128GB internal storage. The Sony Xperia XZ2 sports a 5.7-inch 18:9 aspect ratio Full HD+ 2,160 x 1,080 display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and 4GB RAM. Canon
The EOS 1500D just dropped in March and is the most affordable Canon DSLR yet, at only S$729 with an 18-55mm kit lens. It shoots with a 24MP sensor, comes with built-in Wi-Fi and NFC, but only captures Full-HD video. Comes with a free 16GB SD card, 32GB microSD card, camera bag, and tripod.
The EOS 800D is an upgrade option if you want something more than a beginner DSLR but don’t want to splurge too much on one. Canon’s excellent Dual Pixel AF lets you capture shots easily, even if you’re shooting through the LCD screen. 45 cross-type AF points help you nail the shot when shooting through the viewfinder. But like the EOS 1500D, the 800D only shoots video in Full-HD.

Nikon
Nikon’s entry-level D3400 DSLR ships with a 24.2MP APS-C sensor and is going for S$1,188 with a dual lens kit; an 18-55mm and 55-200mm. The Nikon 1 J5 is the last mirrorless that Nikon has released, and it’s three years old. If you don’t mind not getting the latest tech, it’s at the show for S$699 with a 10-30mm kit lens. The Olympus PEN E-PL9 was recently announced in February. The camera uses a 16MP Live MOS sensor, but it gets the TruePic VIII processor first seen on the OM-D E-M1 Mark II. The Sony α6300 provides a lot of bang for the buck. The mirrorless camera ships with a 24MP APS-C sensor that goes up to ISO 51,200. It can also record 4K video with no pixel binning in the Super 35mm format. 425 phase detection AF points cover the entire image area and the α6300 can shoot up to 11 frames per second.
It’s available at S$1,349 (price stated is after cash back, U.P. S$1,699) for the body with 16-50mm kit lens, and S$350 cash back. Also at S$1,679 (price stated is after cash back, U.P. S$2,029) for the body with 18-135mm kit lens, and S$350 cash back. Or you can simply get the body only at S$1,129 (price stated is after cash back, U.P. S$1,479), and S$350 cash back. Comes with a free 64GB memory card, carrying case, and NP-FW50 battery.
Sony is selling the RX100 versions III to IV at the show (but apparently not the newest V). The RX100 III is going for S$769 (price stated is after cash back, U.P. S$1,199). It comes with a free memory card, SDW course, and S$430 cash back. The RX100 IV has a show price of S$1,149 (price stated is after cash back, U.P. S$1,399), and comes with a free battery pack, SDW course, and S$250 cash back.
The DSC-HX350 is Sony’s most affordable superzoom at the show, the camera comes with a 20.4MP sensor and does 50x optical zoom. Selling for S$499 (price stated is after cash back, U.P. S$549) with a free memory card, carrying case, SDW course, and S$50 cash back. The premium RX10 IV superzoom camera is also there, which comes with a large 20.1MP 1” sensor with 25x optical zoom. The RX10 IV is selling at S$2,399 (price stated is after cash back, U.P. S$2,499) with a free memory card and S$100 cash back.
Philips
Shopping for a 4K TV and don't wish to pay through your nose? This 43-inch Philips PUT6002 is a slim 4K UHD TV that supports DVB-T2 for digital broadcasts, and comes equipped with three HDMI inputs. Going for only $649 here.
This 55-inch PUT7101 is not only bigger in screen size, it also runs Android, which basically means you’ve more apps to select from the Google Play store, as well as the Philips app gallery. This TV also supports DVB-T2 and HEVC. Going for $1,699, and you get free wall mounting and 3 years warranty.
The 55-inch Philips 901F 4K OLED TV features Ambilight (basically LED lights that produce halos of colors around the TV), runs the Android TV platform, and plays nice with HDR. Going for $2,599 here at PC Show. Comes with free wall mounting and 3 years warranty.
Sony
The Sony Bravia X7500F is a 4K HDR UHD TV running the Android TV platform. It has a slim narrow frame, comes with built-in Chromecast for you to cast your favorite content from your personal device to the big screen, and features Sony’s S-Force Front Surround audio tech that aims to create an immersive soundstage. The 55-inch model can be had from the show at $1,799.
If your needs are modest and you can do with a 1080p TV, the W800F is a good choice. It too runs Android TV, which means you’ve no shortage of movies, music, photos, games, and apps. The 49-inch model is going for $1,299, while the 43-inch model is going for $999. Display sets from last week's CEE show are also available, going typically at an additional $100 to $200 discount.
The Bravia A8F is Sony’s latest 4K OLED TV. It supports HDR, runs the Android TV platform, and features an Acoustic Surface technology in which the sound comes directly from the screen. The 55-inch model is going for $5,499 at the show, while the 65-inch one is going for $7,899. Either gets you free $100 Isetan vouchers and jersey vouchers worth $110.
Acer
The Acer XG270HU is a 27-inch wide QHD (2,560 x 1,440) gaming monitor that supports a 144Hz refresh rate. It comes with DVI (Dual Link), HDMI, and DisplayPort video inputs, and is compatible with AMD FreeSync. Going for $498 here.
The XZ350CU is a 35-inch, 2,560 x 1,080-pixel ultra-wide gaming monitor with support for 200Hz refresh rate and Adaptive-Sync technology. It features HDMI, DisplayPort video inputs, and has a built-in USB 3.0 hub. The integrated 9W x 2 speakers also touts DTS sound. Going for $648 here, down from the usual $798.
If you just a need a big and affordable 1080p monitor, take a look at this ED273, which is going for $258. It supports FreeSync, has VGA, HDMI, and DVI inputs, and even built-in speakers.
ASUS
The ASUS VZ279H is a 27-inch full HD monitor in the company’s Eye Care series. It features TÜV Rheinland-certified flicker-free and low blue light technologies to ensure a comfortable viewing experience, has very thin bezels, and supports HDMI and VGA inputs. Going for $411 at this show.
The ASUS VG248QE is a 24-inch full HD gaming monitor with support for 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. It has plenty of inputs, too, including HDMI, DisplayPort, and DVI, and even comes equipped with built-in speakers. Going for $461 at PC Show.
The ROG Strix XG32VQ is a 32-inch WQHD (2,560 x 1,440) curved gaming monitor that has a 144Hz refresh rate and supports AMD FreeSync. It also features ASUS’ Aura Sync tech, which means it can synchronize lighting with other Aura Sync products you may have. Going for $869 at this show.
BenQ
The BenQ Zowie XL2536 is a 24.5-inch, 1080p gaming monitor with a native refresh rate of 144Hz. It also has a feature called Dynamic Accuracy (DyAc) that aims to give you better clarity of fast-moving objects in-game. It supports HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.2, and has a built-in 3-port USB 3.0 hub for your other USB peripherals. Going for $599.
Dell
The Dell SE2717H is an affordable 27-inch full HD IPS monitor going for $229. It has a brightness rating of 300cd/m2, a 6ms response time, and plays nice with HDMI and VGA sources.
The new Dell S2319H is a 23-inch full HD monitor that supports VGA and HDMI video inputs. It also has very thin bezels. Going for just $189, which is lower than what we saw last week at CEE, and comes with a 3-year advanced exchange warranty.
The 27-inch UltraSharp U2717D “InfinityEdge” monitor sports a QHD (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) resolution and is equipped with DisplayPort/mini-DisplayPort and HDMI (MHL) inputs. $709 and it’s yours.
Lenovo
Lenovo’s Legion Y25f–10 is a 24.5-inch full HD gaming monitor supports HDMI and DisplayPort, offers a 320cd/m2 brightness, and comes with a 3-year advanced exchange warranty. Going for $399 at the show.
This L24i–10 is a slim and stylish 23.8-inch monitor going for just $199. A 1080p monitor, it comes with HDMI 1.4 and VGA inputs.
Prism+
The Prism+ W270 is a 27-inch QHD monitor that’s also able to cover 100% of the sRGB color space. The panel has a 60Hz refresh rate, and the monitor supports HDMI, DVI, and DisplayPort connectivity. Going for just $375, down from the regular $499.
The X315 Pro is a 31.5-inch curved monitor that supports a 144Hz refresh rate, just like the non-Pro X315. The main difference is that the X315 Pro has a QHD resolution (2,560 x 1,440) whereas the regular X315 is a 1080p monitor. Price-wise, they’re going for $599 and $429 respectively.
Samsung
The Samsung C24F390 is a 23.5-inch full HD curved monitor with a 4ms refresh rate, 250cd/m2 brightness, and support for HDMI and VGA inputs. Going for $188 here. If you need something bigger, there’s a 27-inch version going for $268.
The C34H890 is a 34-inch curved business monitor with a 3,440 x 1,440-pixel resolution. Other features include a 4ms response time, support for AMD FreeSync, and HDMI, DisplayPort and USB-C connectivity. Going for $958 (U.P: $1,088).
Need to compare multiple documents side by side? This C49HG90 is a super-wide 49-inch monitor with a 3,840 x 1,080-pixel resolution. A “QLED” monitor, it uses quantum dot technology for rich colors, has a refresh rate of 144Hz, and comes with a height-adjustable stand. Going for $1,588 at this show.
ASUS
The Blue Cave is ASUS' newest dual-band AC2600-class router that supports speeds of up to 800Mbps on its 2.4GHz network and 1,733Mbps on its 5GHz network. More importantly, however, is that it looks really sweet. It is a single white hollowed out cube with a blue ring in the middle, hence the name. It is launching at CEE 2018 at a special price of $299 (U.P $339) and comes with a free USB-AC53 Nano Wi-Fi adapter.
The Lyra Trio is ASUS’ latest mesh networking system. It is dual-band, supporting speeds of up to 450Mbps on its 2.4GHz network and 1,300Mbps on its 5GHz network. It is compact and sports a unique pyramidal design that supposedly minimizes interfaces and improves Wi-Fi coverage across floors. A pack of three is going for $379 (U.P $459) and comes with a free USB-AC53 Nano Wi-Fi adapter. You can also get it as a single unit ($159) or as a pack of two ($279).

For users who need more storage, the QNAP TS-431P2 is four-bay NAS powered by a quad-core Annapurna Labs CPU. It also comes with two Gigabit LAN ports for link aggregation or failover. Bose is at PC Show 2018, and they've got the QuietComfort 35 II on sale for just S$479, down S$50 from the usual price of S$529. That's a good price for these wireless headphones that boast fantastic noise-canceling, Google Assistant support, and a 20 hour battery life to easily take you through your day.
If a speaker is more your thing, look at the SoundTouch 10. This is also on sale, and it's going for just S$271, about S$50 off from the usual price of S$319. That's a great price for these portable speakers that use a Unidome transducer for big sound despite the small size.
Erato
Erato is also at PC Show 2018, and their Apollo 7S is again a star buy. This is IPX5 sweat and water resistant and gives you a listening time of up to nine hours on the go, thanks to the carrying case providing an extra two full charges in addition to the three hour play time the earbuds themselves can deliver. They're going for just S$449 at the show, down S$50 from the usual price of S$499. Buy 2, and you can get each piece for S$424. So buy more and save more!
There’s the Verse on sale. Weighing only 4.5g, these use graphene drivers for crisp highs and deep lows. They’re also IPX5 rated against sweat and water, and offer the same three hours of music playback/four hours of talk time, but come with a charging case that brings that total up to 15 hours. They’re going for a slight discount of S$13, as you can have them for S$236 instead of the usual price of S$249, buy two though, and you can have them at S$224 per piece.
Jabra
How about some sporty true wireless earbuds? Jabra has good deals at the show too, as their Elite Sport is available at a promotional price of S$298, down from the usual of S$368. What’s more, you’ll get a free Jabra sport towel, a S$10 Capitaland voucher, and a Targus lightning to USB cable thrown in (while stocks last). Not bad for true wireless earbuds that will easily take you through your workout with their 4.5 hour battery life.
Otherwise, check out the Jabra Sport Pulse SE. These are more traditional wireless earbuds, with enhanced bass and a heart rate monitor built in so you can better track you workout. It's going for just S$168 at the show, down about S$90 from the usual of S$258. And you'll get a free Jabra Sport Towel and one Jabra Sport wristband thrown in too!

Looking for neckband style in-ear headphones? Klipsch has their R5 neckband on sale at the show, and they're going for S$175, down 12% from the usual of S$199. These are rated IPX4 splash-proof despite being wrapped in pliable, hand-stitched edge-treated leather for a premium feel, so you safely take them out with you no matter the weather.
Klipsch also has the limited 70th anniversary edition of their R6i in-ear headphones on sale, and this is going for S$150, a savings of about 15% from the usual price of S$179. Not too bad for these in-ear headphones that feature dual magnet, moving coil micro speakers for better sound and feature a three button in-line remote so you can use it to take and make calls.

Logitech
Gamers, the Logitech G233 Prodigy headphones are going on sale. These are being sold in a bundle with the G502 Proteus Spectrum tunable gaming mouse for just S$159, down some S$89 from the usual price of S$238. Pretty good for one of the lightest headphones Logitech has designed to date given it also has proprietary Pro-G drivers for more accurate sound.
Otherwise, look to the Artemis Spectrum wireless gaming headset. This is going for just S$219 at the show, down some S$80 from the usual of S$299. These have 16.8 million-color RGB lighting, modular backlit speaker plates, and three programmable Logitech G-keys, and support both Dolby and DTS Headphone:X profiles for better sound.

If you’re looking for something to workout with, check out one of Plantronics’ star buys for this show – the IPX5-rated BackBeat Fit Boost. Razer is of course at the show, and they've got their Tiamat 7.1 v2 surround sound gaming headsets as a star buy. This is going for just S$259.90, down S$100 from the usual price of S$359.90! That's a great price for these headphones that use five discrete drivers to produce true 7.1 surround sound.
You could also look to the redesigned Kraken 7.1 V2. This is available for just S$119.90, down S$40 from the usual price of S$159.90. These have 50mm drivers and feature virtual 7.1 positional audio, so are sure to rock your gaming world.

Samsung
Samsung has their Gear IconX (2018) true wireless earbuds for sale at the show, and they're going for S$268 at the show with a free LED Runner Belt Pouch (worth S$39) thrown in. Buy it with a Galaxy S9, S9+ or Note8 though, and you'll enjoy a special purchase with purchase price of S$208.
Also on sale, are their U Flex Headphones, and these neckband-style headphones use two-way speakers for quality sound that's accurate across the entire frequency spectrum. Despite the price tag shown here, they can be had for S$78 at the show, down S$20 from the usual price of S$98.
There are also the Level U Pro wireless neckband style earphones on sale at the show, and these are going for S$78.40 instead of the usual of S$98.00. A good price considering they use Samsung UHQA audio to provide a better listening experience when paired with select Samsung devices.
Sennheiser
There are some great Sennheiser deals to be had at this show too, like the Momentum Wireless over-ear headphones you see here. These use Bluetooth 4.0 for a more stable wireless connection, and come with NoiseGard hybrid active noise-cancellation so you can focus on just your music. They're going for a show special of S$399, down a massive S$300 from the usual price of S$699.

Another great deal to be had, the PXC 550 Wireless impressed us greatly in our wireless headphone shootout last year. It can be had for just S$399 at the show when you use the $50 coupon in the show flyer. That's a good S$250 savings from the usual price of S$649, and is well worth a quick audition if you're looking for new headphones.
Sonos
Sonos is pushing hard on their new Sonos One speakers again, and the first 100 customers can buy these voice assistant ready speakers for S$309 instead of the usual S$329. Otherwise, pick up the Sonos One Bundle (consisting of two Sonos One speakers) for S$598, which works out to just under S$300 per speaker, a savings of S$29 each.
Just want a simple one speaker set-up? The Sonos PlayBase is also on sale at the show. This is going for S$1099 instead of the usual of S$1149, a savings of $50. As usual, Sonos gives greater discounts when you get more, so you can also pick up the PlayBase with a Sub for S$2159 (instead of S$2298) and get an extra Sonos One for just S$299.
Sony
Soundbars seem to be the focus for Sony at this show, and the HT-ST5000 pictured here can be had for just S$2099, down from the usual price of S$2799. That's good savings for this soundbar that uses 7.1.2 channel S-Force Pro Front Surround technology for a natural sound field, and is capable of producing true Dolby Atmos Sound to get you more immersed in your movies.
If you're looking for something smaller, then you can't go far wrong with the HT-CT800. This is soundbar with 4K HDR capabilities is going for just $599 at the show, down some $300 from usual of $899. Pretty good if you're looking for a cinematic experience at home.
Look towards the back of the show hall and you'll find these MDR-ZX330BT wireless headphones on sale, and these are going for S$109.00 instead of the usual of S$139.00. Pretty good for these wireless headphones that are capable of 30 hours wireless playback on a single charge and fold down for better portability.
Steelseries
Steel Series can also be found at this show, and of course their Arctis 5 Dota 2 edition headphones are on sale. These are going for S$199.00, down S$30 from the usual price of S$229.00. You'll also get a free headband and acrylic headset stand thrown in while stocks last. So go grab these headsets now and enjoy gaming in 7.1 surround sound.
Otherwise, you can check out the Arctis Pro. Being a new model, this isn't going on discount, but you can get it with a GameDAC for just S$449, so that's something to consider if you're looking to greatly improve your gaming audio.
Ultimate Ears
Ultimate Ears is at the show too, and this time round their star buy is undoubtedly the Megaboom in blue. For some reason, just this particular colorway is going for a massive 50% off, so you can have it for S$199.50 instead of the usual of S$399.00. And you even get a free Ultimate Ears water bottle thrown in too!
Otherwise, we'd go back to the Boom 2, as this is going for just S$179 at the show, down some $70 from the usual of S$249, with a free Ultimate Ears water bottle thrown. Good price for a speaker that's IPX7-rated waterproof and drop proof, with a frequency range of 90Hz to 20 kHz, a 15 hour battery life, and a wireless range of 100 feet.
Acer
The Acer Swift 3 is a 14-inch notebook equipped with an Intel Core i5-8250U, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 256GB SSD. The Swift 3 costs S$1,028 (U.P. Dreamcore
The Dreamcore Bullet is a super compact PC that also manages to integrate the power supply in the chassis itself. The Dreamcore Ghost is a value-oriented PC targeted at those on a tight budget. It features an Intel Core i5-8500 processor, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB.
