Comex 2014 highlights
Comex 2014 begins today 28 August (Thursday), and runs all the way till August 31 (Sunday) at Levels 4 and 6 of the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Center. Doors will open from 12 noon to 9pm during these 4 days, and as always, admission is free.
To celebrate the tech show's 20th anniversary, Comex 2014 will be a bit different from other years. Lined up for you is a series of technology-related activities, including a fashion show, booth babes-related contests, and of course, a lucky draw. AC Ryan

This Acer S7 Ultrabook has a 13.3-inch touchscreen display, and is powered by an Intel Core i5-4210U processor, with 8GB RAM, and a 128GB SSD, Its sleek white chassis is protected by a Gorilla Glass 3 lid. It can be had at Comex for just $1,798.
Acer's Z3-615 is an all-in-one desktop machine that boasts of a 23-inch Full HD display, 4th generation Intel Core i5-4590T processor, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD storage, and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M GPU. It's on sale at Comex for just $1,299.
Aftershock
The Aftershock X15S-V2 boasts of a 15.6-inch Full HD display, 4th generation Intel Core i7-4710MQ processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M GPU, 8GB RAM, and 1TB hybrid SSD storage. The usual price for this gaming monster is $2,566, but it can be had at Comex for a special price of $2,279.

ASUS
The ASUS ET2702IGTH-B036K is an all-in-one desktop PC with a 27-inch WQHD (2,560 x 1,440) touchscreen display. It is powered by an Intel Core i7-4770 processor, with 16GB RAM, and an AMD HD8990A GPU. Available at Comex for just $2,599, down from the usual price of $2,949. If you buy at Comex, you'll also get a free copy of Ubisoft game Watch_Dogs.
The portable ASUS T100TA is a 10.1-inch tablet with a docking keyboard that turns it into a full Windows 8.1 notebook. The T100TA is powered by an Intel Atom Z3775 quad-core processor, and includes 32GB SSD storage, with a further 500GB HDD built into the dock. It is on sale at Comex for just $599.

This gaming monster is the ASUS ROG G56JK-CN143H. Armed with a 15.6-inch Full HD display, Intel Core i7-4710HQ processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M GPU, 8GB RAM, and 1TB HDD storage, it can be bought at Comex for just $1,698.
If you are looking for a high-end router, ASUS has just launched the new RT-AC87U at Comex. This new router provides up to 1.7Gbps of bandwidth on its 5GHz band. The only downside is that you need a compatible client to take advantage of its high speeds. If this is too much for you, the older RT-AC68U is a more affordable and yet fast alternative.
The newly launched RT-AC87U router provides a maximum data link rate of 1.7Gbps on its 5GHz band and it is going for $399 and comes with a free ASUS Cerberus gaming headset worth $99 and McAfee internet security worth $59.

ASUS’ ZenFone series has been a hit with consumers. Available in 5-inch and 6-inch form factors, the ZenFone phones sport great design and build quality for their price tags. The ZenFone 5 is priced at $249 while the ZenFone 6 costs $329.

Powerline adapters are a convenient way of extending your home's network coverage and the Aztech 500Mbps HL115EP HomePlug and HL117EW HomePlug wireless extender are available at $115 (U.P.: $129).
The Aztech 600Mbps HL119EP HomePlug and 500Mbps HL117EW HomePlug wireless extender are available at $125 (U.P.: $149).

Brother
If you don't need fax capability but still want the printer to be able to scan and copy, check out the Brother J552DW that goes for $188 (usual price $208). Comes with a $20 shopping voucher too.
Canon
In celebration of National Day, save $49 and grab the Canon Pixma MG6470 for $150. It comes with built-in wireless networking and a 3-inch LCD screen. It supports Apple AirPrint and features auto duplex printing.
The Canon Pixma MX927 comes with auto duplex so you won't have to flip the pages over yourself when printing double-sided documents. It also comes with an automatic document feeder so you can scan or copy documents without having to feed each page manually. It is also wireless and Ethernet-ready. Save $49 and bring it home for $320.
The Canon Imageclass MF4890dw is a value buy at $379, which is usually selling for $499. It can print, scan, fax, and copy, and comes with a 50-sheet automatic document feeder.
The EOS 600D twin lens kit costs $949 (after the $50 cashback), and you get a free 8GB SD card, 16 GB SD card, dry cabinet, an EOS camera case, EOS bag, and a EOS 600D user guide book. The extended warranty costs $240 and gives you an extra 2 years as well as a free 5D Mk 3 mini thumbdrive, as well as the option to purchase the EF50mm F1.8 lens for just $99.
The EOS 70D goes for $2,149 with the EF S18-200 IS lens. You can get $150 off by trading in any digital camera, and the 2-year extended warranty for this costs $210, with the same promotion as above. It also comes with a 8GB SD card, a 32GB SD card, tripod, EOS bag, and dry cabinet.

CM Storm
Cooler Master's fully backlit Quick Fire Rapid-i is equipped with an ARM processor that enables responsive illumination and trailing effects. It is also equipped with Cherry MX mechanical switches for a longer lifespan. It launches at Comex 2014 with a price tag of $158, and you get to choose between Cherry MX brown switches or Blue switches.
Creative

Crucial
Prices for the Crucial MX100 SSDs are as follows: 128GB - $105, 256GB - $160, 512GB - $308. And for the Crucial M550: 128GB- $128, 256GB - $220, 512GB - $448, 1024GB - $726. The drives will also come with a USB to SATA cable and cloning utility.
D-Link
D-Link's DIR-868L is one of the more affordable AC1750 routers around and it is going for $239 (U.P.: $299).
The D-Link DIR880L is the company's latest Wireless-AC router and it supports a combined data link rate of 1,900Mbps. It is available at $299 (U.P.: $369).
The D-Link DCS-6010L cloud IP camera features fisheye lens, giving it a wide viewing angle. It is available at $339 (U.,P.: $399).
Dell
The 11.6-inch Dell XPS 11 has a 360-degree hinge that lets it flip into a handy tablet mode. Despite its diminutive size, it has an ultra high-res QHD 2,560 x 1,440-pixel resolution display. This model has a Core i5-4210U processor, 4GB RAM, and a 128GB SSD. Going for $1,999.

The Dell Alienware 14 boasts of a 14-inch Full HD display, 4th generation Intel Core i7-4710MQ processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M GPU, 8GB RAM, and 1TB HDD. It costs $2,699 at Comex, and comes with a free Dell carry case, accidental damage coverage, and gaming mouse.
Energizer
Energizer has a huge range of portable battery chargers to meet your diverse needs. For example, its latest UE10410 portable charger can provide up to 10 hours of battery life on your smartphone or tablet. It has a power capacity of 10,400mAh.
Epson
The Epson L355 provides good value as it's an ink tank printer, so ink refills are super affordable. Sporting built-in Wi-Fi, you can bring it home for just $299, which also includes two additional black ink bottles.
Fuji Xerox
The Fuji Xerox DocuPrint M255 z is a mono desktop all-in-one S-LED printer that is able to print, copy, scan, and fax. Duplex printing is also automatic, so you don't have to manually flip the pages over. It's going for $269, and you also get a $50 voucher.
The DocuPrint CM215 fw is an A4 color S-LED printer that can also copy, scan, and fax. It has print speeds of up to 12ppm for color documents and 15ppm for monochrome documents. It is also Wi-Fi and Ethernet-ready. Bring it home for $469 (usual price $649).
Need an A4 color S-LED printer? Check out the DocuPrint CP215 w, which has print speeds of 12 pages per minute (color) and 15 pages per minute (mono). It goes for $239 at Comex 2014.
Fujifilm
The Finepix HS35 boasts a 16MP 1/2-inch-type EXR CMOS II sensor with a 30X optical zoom lens. This is going for $349 at the show, and comes with a free case, 16GB SD card, cleaning kit, and tripod.
The Finepix F660 is going for $229, and boasts a 16MP EXR CMOS sensor and 15x optical zoom. It comes with a free case, 8GB SD card, cleaning kit, and tripod.
The XQ1 has a 12MP X-Trans CMOS II sensor, and comes with free 8GB SD card, carrying case, battery, cleaning kit, and photo frame. It retails for $409 after the $150 cashback promo.

Garmin
The new Forerunner 15 is the latest GPS watch from Garmin that helps track your running activity. It is going for $229 (U.P.: $259).
The Garmin vivofit fitness band tracks your footsteps, calories burned, and is water resistant. The simple bundle is $179 (U.P.: $209), whereas the other bundle that comes with three additional color bands is going for $199 (U.P.: $250).
HGST
The Touro S from HGST is the only portable external hard disk drive that we know that has a disk that spins at 7,200RPM. It costs $99 (U.P.: $119).
HGST has regular external hard disk drives too with prices beginning at $55 for the 500GB version and topping out at $89 for the 1TB version.
HP
The HP Pavilion x360 is a flexible little device with a 360-degree hinge, letting it easily transform between notebook, tablet, stand, and tent modes to suit your current usage needs. It has an 11.6-inch touchscreen display, Intel Pentium N3520 processor, Windows 8.1 OS, and 8GB RAM. It is available at Comex for $799.
The sleek aluminum chassis Envy 15 has a Full HD 15-inch display, and is powered by an Intel Core i7-4700MQ processor, 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, and NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M GPU. It usually retails for $1,399, but is available at Comex for $1,299.
The HP Envy Recline 27 All-In-One boasts a unique adjustable touchscreen that can recline to an almost fully flat position, making it easier to work on, especially if you're writing on it. This 27-inch model boasts an Intel Core i7-4770T processor, 16GB RAM, 1TB HDD, and an NVIDIA GeForce GT730A GPU. It is available for $2,499.
The HP Officejet Pro X576dw might be pricey, but if it's speed you're looking for, then the X576dw is a model you should consider. It's definitely one of the fastest inkjets around (42ppm in both mono and color!) and may even rival some laser printers. It's now going for $1,199.

Huawei
Huawei's latest flagship smartphone, the Ascend P7 is ultra-thin at 6.5mm. It sports a 13MP rear camera with an aperture of F2.0 and a 2,500mAh battery. Priced at $699, you also get free JBL speaker and 16GB microSD card.

One of the more affordable Wireless-AC routers at Comex is from Huawei, which supports up to 1,300Mbps on its 5GHz band and 450Mbps on its 2.4GHz band. It is going for $219 (U.P.: $249).
Jawbone
If you are looking for a stylish fitness tracker, you will be happy to know that there is a massive discount on the older Jawbone Up.
The older Jawbone Up is going for just $99 (U.P.: $189).
Klipsch
Klipsch's R6 series is on offer at this Comex. The R6M/i costs $152 if you buy one set, or $143 if you buy two or more sets, and the R6 goes for $116 if you get one set, and $109 if you get two or more sets.

The Yoga 2 Pro Ultrabook boasts a 13.3-inch QHD+ 3,200 x 1,800-pixel resolution touchscreen display, and has a 360-degree hinge that lets it transform into four usage modes: laptop, stand, tent, and tablet. This Intel Core i5-4200U model with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD is available for $1,949. An i7 version is also available for $2,099.
The Lenovo Y50-70 is a powerful 15.6-inch gaming notebook with a Full HD display, 4th generation Intel Core i7-4710HQ processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M GPU, 16GB RAM, and 1TB HDD. It can be had at Comex for $1,999, and includes free 3 year McAfee Internet Security, 2nd year extended warranty, and Samsonite backpack.
Logitech
You don't see a gaming mouse in this photo here, but if you're looking for one, check out the Logitech G500s. It won't break the bank and is going for $69.90. It features a dual-mode scroll wheel, 10 programmable controls, and is capable of up to 8,200 dpi.
The Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover complements the Apple iPad Air as it is just 7.3mm thin and weighs only 330g. The keyboard has time-saving shortcut keys for copy, paste, undo and more, which allows you to type quickly. It is available for $125 (U.P $139) at EpiCentre and Nubox booths.
The Apple iPad Mini is not forgotten; Logitech also has a range of keyboard accessories for the 7.9-inch tablet. One of the best selling products is the Ultrathin Keyboard Folio for iPad Mini. It not only provides a comfortable typing experience, it also protects your tablet from accidental bumps, scratches and spills. It is priced at $115 (U.P $129).
Microsoft
The newly launched Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is one of the best productivity tablets/notebooks around. Running on full Windows 8.1 OS, and fitted with a gorgeous 12-inch 2160 x 1440-pixel resolution display, the Surface Pro 3 comes in a variety of processor configurations. We recommend one of the i5 configurations: available with 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD storage for $1,348 or 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, for $1,728.

Pre-order the new Xbox One console at Comex too. The Kinect bundle includes the console, Kinect sensor, a wireless controller, headset, FIFA 15 game and Dance: Central Spotlight game for $739. A cheaper bundle without the Kinect sensor and Dance: Central Spotlight game can be had for $639.

MyRepublic

Netgear officially launched the its new Nighthawk X6 tri-band router at Comex. This new router uses Broadcom's latest 5G XStream chipset, which we talked about in greater detail in our preview of this router here.
The new Netgear Nighthawk X6 offers a combined throughput of 3,200Mbps on its three wireless networks and is going for a special introductory price of $399 (U.P.: $459).
Nikon

Samsung's newest HU8700 series of curved 4K UHD TVs spotted at Comex. The 55-inch model is going for $4,099; the 65-inch model $5,799.
