CEE & PC Show 2017 highlights
Tech lovers are in for a treat this week, as both the CEE Show and PC Show are happening at the same time from June 1 to 4. However, both are held at different locations: Suntec for CEE and MBS for PC Show. The team went down to both (of course) so that we can come back to tell you what's best to buy, buy, buy at each show!
CEE 2017 and PC Show 2017 - It's tech show season!
Tech fans are in for a treat this week, because we've not one but two tech show happening at the same time from June 1 to 4.
CEE 2017
To recap, CEE 2017 is happening at Suntec Singapore, and spans three floors: Level 1, 3, and 4. As you can see from the floor plans, Level 1 is helmed by Newstead and Level 3 by Challenger. Both retailers, along with Harvey Norman, the telcos, and most major brands such as Canon and Samsung TV are also found at Level 4, Hall 403 to 406. The gamer-focused Gameon area that consolidates several gaming brands together (including PlayStation and Xbox) is also on Level 4.

You can trade-in your old notebooks, desktops, phones, tablets, gaming consoles and software at the booth located at the Level 4 entrance of CEE.
E-mobility trade-ins are at Level 4, Booth 8750.

PC Show 2017
Marina Bay Sands is the home for PC Show this year. Also running from June 1 to 4, this is yet another place to fulfill your home entertainment, lifestyle electronics, office equipment, and travel technology shopping needs. (Here's our earlier preview article.) The show will span Hall A, B, and C (all on Level 1) of MBS. Highlights to look out for here is the "GG" Gaming Zone by Game3.Asia and GameProSG and the trade-in activity managed by Aeon Earth.
This year's edition of PC Show takes place at MBS.

This AOC I3288VWH is a 31.5-inch full HD monitor with an IPS display. It has built-in speakers, and plays nice with VGA, DVI, and HDMI. Going for $499 at CEE, down from the usual $599.
ASUS
The ASUS VG248QEJ is a 24-inch full HD monitor with a fast 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time, making it ideal for gaming. It supports, HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI-D, and is compatible with the NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 kit. Going for $489 at both shows, and comes with a free HDMI cable.
The VP278H is a 27-inch full HD monitor going for an affordable price of $309 at both shows. It has two HDMI inputs, a 1ms response time, and a blue light filter that protects your eyes from harmful blue light. Comes with free HDMI cable, too.
BenQ
This BenQ Zowie XL2735 is a 27-inch, 2,560 x 1,440-pixel monitor targeted at gamers. It sports a 144Hz refresh rate and a 1ms response time, along with a DyAc tech to help maintain image clarity during gaming. It has shields on both sides of the display to block out distractions, and comes with an S Switch that lets you quickly access the OSD and your personal settings. Going for $1,049 at PC Show.
This BenQ Zowie XL2540 may be a relatively small 24.5-inch 1080p monitor, but the panel has a native 240Hz refresh rate. It also has blinkers at the sides to block out distractions, a built-in USB hub, and features like Black eQualizer to give you an edge during gaming. Going for $799 at PC Show.
Dell
The Dell S2718H is a 27-inch full HD monitor that supports AMD's FreeSync tech for smooth gaming. It touts very thin bezels, and a lifelike viewing experience thanks to Dell HDR tech. Going for $439 at both shows, down from the usual $499.
The Dell S2318H is a 23-inch full HD monitor going for just $199 at both shows. It’s equipped with VGA and HDMI video inputs, and comes with a 3-year advanced exchange warranty.
The Dell U2717D is a 27-inch QHD (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) monitor with an "Infinity Edge" feature, which basically means it has very tiny bezels. Sporting HDMI/MHL, DisplayPort, and mini-DP connectivity, it also has an ergonomic stand with height, tilt, swivel, and pivot adjustments. Going for $739 at both shows.
LG
The LG 34UM69G is another 34-inch ultra-wide gaming monitor from LG. Going for $799 at both shows, it has a 75Hz panel, and sports LG's 1ms motion blur reduction tech. It also supports AMD's FreeSync tech, and has in-built 7W x 2 speakers. Free gifts include the Logitech G402 mouse and a trolley so you can have an easier time lugging the monitor home.
The 34UC79G is a 34-inch ultra-wide gaming monitor using a 2,560 x 1,080-pixel curved IPS panel. This giant monitor also supports a 144Hz refresh rate, AMD's FreeSync tech, and touts a 5ms response time and a 1ms motion blur reduction feature. It also comes with useful features like a reader mode and split screen to make full use of its wide display. Going for $1,099 at both shows, with free gifts such as a Logitech G402 mouse and a Plantronics RIG 500HS gaming headset.
The 27MP58 is a 27-inch, full HD IPS monitor going for $299 (U.P: $429) at both shows. It supports HDMI, and have common LG monitor features such as a reader mode and split screen functions. It supports HDMI 1.4 and has a tilting stand.
Philips
The Philips 323E7QDAA is a 31.5-inch full HD IPS monitor. It also touts a flicker-free display, wide viewing angles, and built-in stereo speakers. Going for $449 at CEE, down from $499. Comes with free HDMI cable.
The Philips 288P6LJEB is a 28-inch 4K monitor. It supports DisplayPort 1.2, DVI Dual Link, HDMI (MHL) and has four USB ports onboard. The stand is height adjustable too. Going for $649 at CEE, down from the usual $899.
Prism+
The Prism+ X340 is a 34-inch curved gaming monitor with a 3,440 x 1,440-pixel resolution. It has a 100Hz refresh rate and the panel supports wide color gamut. The company (founded by Aftershock) is selling it at PC Show at $899 (U.P: $1,268).
Samsung
The C32H711 is a 31.5-inch curved QLED monitor enhanced by Samsung’s quantum dot technology. Flanked by thin bezels, you get a wide 178-degree viewing angle, a 2,560 x 1,440-pixel resolution, and a 4ms response time from this display. HDMI and mini-DisplayPort are supported, and their cables can be cleverly hidden in the stand. Going for $898 at both shows.
Exclusive to CEE is this S29E780C 29-inch curved monitor with a 2,560 x 1,080-pixel resolution. It has built-in 7W x 2 speakers, wide 178-degree viewing angles, and supports DisplayPort and HDMI (two). Going for $648 at CEE, a nice drop from the usual $1,099.
This C32F391 is a 31.5-inch full HD curved monitor going at $498 (U.P: $598) at both shows. It supports HDMI and DisplayPort 1.2 connectivity, has a headphone jack, and can be wall mounted if you chose to.
Brother
The Brother HL-L2365DW is a monochrome laser printer that’s going for S$168 (U.P. S$208), with a free S$20 shopping voucher, at both CEE and PC Show. It prints up to 30ppm, with a 250-sheet tray, built-in Wi-Fi, and 3 + 2 years limited (parts only) carry-in warranty. If you’re looking for something even more basic, the Brother HL-1210W monochrome laser printer is going for S$88 (U.P. S$118), it prints up to 20ppm with 3 + 2 years limited (parts only) carry-in warranty and built-in Wi-Fi.
The Brother DCP-J562DW is an A4 color inkjet multifunction center that prints, copies, and scans. It has a print speed of up to 12ppm (mono) and 6ppm (color). Now S$168 (U.P. S$208) at CEE and PC Show. There’s a 3 years carry-in warranty, and a free S$20 voucher offer.
The Brother DCP-T500W is an A4 refill tank system that prints, copies, and scans. It ships with a 100-sheet tray and a print speed of up to 11ppm (mono) and 6ppm (color). Canon
The Canon imageClass LBP6030w is a compact monochrome laser printer that is S$99 (U.P. S$149) at both CEE and PC Show. It prints up to 18ppm and supports mobile printing, with built-in Wi-Fi. Comes with a free S$10 NTUC voucher at both shows.
The Canon MG3670 Pixma Wireless Photo All-in-One is going for S$99 (U.P. S$139) with a free black ink cartridge worth S$25.50. The printer does auto duplex printing, has built-in Wi-Fi and supports the Canon Print Inkjet app. Does it come in black? Yes, it does, and white too.
The Canon iB4170 is a business printer that’s going for 50% off, at S$109 (U.P. S$219). It has a 500 sheets high-capacity paper cassette, and prints up to 2,500 pages (mono). It uses water and marker resistant pigment ink and supports wireless printing. Comes with a free S$20 NTUC voucher and additional purchase-with-purchase S$5 NTUC voucher.
Epson
The Epson Expression Home XP-245 is a compact 3-in-1 home office inkjet printer that’s selling at S$88 (U.P. S$98) at both CEE and PC Show, with a free S$20 NTUC voucher and trolley. The printer prints up to 27ppm (mono) and 15ppm (color) with Wi-Fi connectivity.
At S$199 (U.P. S$229), the L360 is the most affordable multifunction ink tank system printer from Epson at both CEE and PC Show. The 3-in-1 printer can print up to 9.2ipm (mono) and 4.5ipm (color), and comes with a full 2-year warranty or 30,000 pages, whichever comes first. Free S$20 NTUC voucher and trolley if you purchase at the shows.
The Epson WorkForce WF-3521 A4 multifunction home office inkjet printer is going for S$348 (U.P. S$398) at both CEE and PC Show, with a free S$60 NTUC voucher and trolley. The Wi-Fi enabled 4-in-1 printer does auto duplex printing and can print, scan, copy. It prints up to 38ppm in mono and color, with a maximum monthly duty cycle of up to 12,000 pages.
Fuji Xerox
The Fuji Xerox DocuPrint P265 dw is an A4 mono laser printer going for S$179 (U.P. S$199) at both CEE and the PC Show. It has a 30ppm print speed, does auto duplex printing, and is Wi-Fi ready. Comes with a 3-year carry-in warranty with drum coverage.
The Fuji Xerox DocuPrint CP115 w is an A4 color S-LED printer. It has a 12ppm mono and 10ppm color print speed and is Wi-Fi ready. It comes with a 3-year on-site warranty with drum coverage. Going for S$249 (U.P. S$329) at both CEE and PC Show, with free S$20 FairPrice vouchers.
The Fuji Xerox DocuPrint CM225 fw is a A4 color multifunction S-LED printer that prints, scans, copies, and faxes. It’s selling at S$499 (U.P. S$649) at both CEE and PC Show, with free S$80 FairPrice vouchers. The printer goes up to 18ppm in color and mono, and is Wi-Fi ready. Comes with a 3-year on-site warranty with drum coverage.
HP
The HP DeskJet 3630 All-in-One is a very affordable printer that’s going for S$59 (U.P. S$79) at both CEE and PC Show. It prints, scans and copies, with a print speed of up to 8.5ppm (mono) and 6ppm (color). It has a 1,000 page-per-month duty cycle with a scan resolution of up to 1,200dpi. Comes with a 2-years on-site exchange warranty.
The HP Envy 5540 e-All-in-One is going for S$129 (U.P. S$159) at both CEE and PC Show. It prints, copies, scans, has wireless support and prints up to 12ppm (mono) and 8ppm (color). It has a 1,000 page-per-month duty cycle, with a scan resolution of up to 1,200 dpi. Comes with a one year on-site unit exchange warranty, free S$20 Capita voucher, trolley, and one Tri Color ink cartridge.
The Straits Times likes the HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 e-All-in-One so much it gave it an Editor’s Choice for Best Printer, and it’s going for S$359 (U.P. S$459) now at both CEE and PC Show. The device prints, copies, scans and faxes, with a print speed of up to 24ppm (mono) and 20ppm (color). It has a 30,000 page-per-month duty cycle, with a scan resolution of up to 1,200dpi. Comes with a two years on-site exchange warranty, and a free S$50 Capita voucher, trolley, and one HP XL CMYK ink cartridge.
Samsung
The Samsung Xpress M2020W is a mono single-function laser printer spotted at the PC Show for S$128 (U.P. S$148), with a free Samsung Evo microSD 32GB card. The printer has built-in Wi-Fi and comes with a three-year carry-in warranty (hardware only).
The Samsung Xpress C430W is a color single-function laser printer that’s going for S$188 (U.P. S$298) at the PC Show, with a free Samsung Evo microSD 32GB card. The printer has Wi-Fi and comes with a three-year on-site warranty (hardware only).
The Samsung C480 comes in two flavors, both available at PC Show. The C480W is a 3-in-1 color laser multifunction printer that’s going for S$308 (U.P. S$428), with a free Samsung Evo microSD 64GB card and S$20 shopping voucher. The C480FW is a 4-in-1 color laser multifunction printer that’s selling at S$428 (U.P. S$508), with a free Mayer Air Fryer MMAF13 and S$30 cash discount. Both support Wi-Fi and come with three-year on-site warranties (hardware only).
Canon
The Canon SX730 HS packs a 40x superzoom lens into a compact body, and it can be all yours for S$529 at CEE. It shoots 20.3MP images and has built-in Wi-Fi and NFC. Comes with a free 16GB SD card, Crumpler drawstring bag, MK10 monopod, and screen protector.
The Canon G5 X comes with a large 1” 20.2MP sensor, f/1.8-2.8 lens with 4.2x optical zoom. Also, has built-in Wi-Fi and NFC, and that bump you see is an electronic viewfinder. Going at CEE for S$999, with free 64GB SD card, NB13L battery, G5 X case, MK10 monopod, and screen protector. Plus, there’s an online warranty promotion with S$100 cash back.
Canon’s newest mirrorless camera, the EOS M6, is available at CEE at three options. First, S$1,039 for the body only, then S$1,199 with the EF M15-45 IS STM kit lens, and S$1,639 with the EF M18-150 IS STM kit lens. The camera comes with a 24.2MP APS-C sensor, and an ISO 100 to 25,600 range, with Hybrid CMOS AF III.
At CEE, it comes with a free 64GB SD card, tripod, LPE17 battery, Manfrotto camera bag, and screen protector. There’s an online warranty promotion with S$100 cash back and a Hellolulu ruckpack. There’s an additional purchase-with-purchase offer for an electronic viewfinder (DC2) at S$199 (U.P. S$329).
Fujifilm
PSA: Fujifilm has slashed prices down from the ones listed on its PC Show 2017 brochures.
The most affordable way to get into Fujifilm’s mirrorless system, the X-A10, is going for S$718 at PC Show with the XC16-50mm II kit lens. Includes a free 16GB SD card, photo prints voucher, X-series product workshop, a Samurai dry box, and S$100 cash back.
The Fujifilm X-T20 gives you a lot of the flagship X-T2 for a lower price. Now S$1,604 at PC Show with the XC16-50mm II kit lens. Comes with free 16GB SD card, NPW126S battery, photo prints voucher, X-series product workshop, a metal hand grip (MHG-XT10), Samurai dry box, and S$50 cash back.
The X-T2 flagship is there, in all its 24.3MP X-Trans III APS-C glory, should you choose to accept it. Shoots 4K video, with 325 focus points. The body alone is going for S$2,483 (black), S$2,775 (graphite silver). There’s a XF18-55mm kit lens combo that can be had for S$2,873. Comes with a free NPW126S battery, 32GB SD card, BLC-XT2, photo print voucher, X-series product workshop, VPB-XT2 grip, and S$50 cash back.
Olympus
The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II is going for S$998 (U.P. S$1,148) with the 14-42mm kit lens at CEE, and S$1,198 (U.P. S$1,348) with the 14-42mm and 40-150mm kit lens. The Olympus 45mm f/1.8 prime lens is marked as a purchase-with-purchase promotion on the brochure, but I was told at the counter that they’re now bundling it for free (good deal, as the lens is usually S$498).
The camera comes with a free Manfrotto compact action tripod (limited to first 20 customers per day), with an additional battery, 16GB SD card, S$30 Harvey Norman voucher (limited to first 20 customers per day), 8GB Flash Air card, 3-month local extended warranty, external grip (ECG-3), Olympus bag, and product workshop. That’s a lot.

HyperX
The HyperX Cloud II gaming headset comes with 7.1 surround sound and a microphone that has noise-cancellation. It’s backed by a pair of 53mm neodymium drivers. It’s now going at S$139 (U.P. Also worth looking for, is the Bose SoundTouch 10. This is slightly larger speaker streams music over Wi-Fi, and supports multi-room audio, so you can easily integrate it with your existing SoundTouch speakers. It’s available in a choice of black or white, and is going for just $319 at both shows, down from the usual of $399.
Creative
The Creative Katana is again on offer at this PC Show 2017, but you’ll have to get a voucher from the presenter on stage to get their lowest price of $399, down from the usual of $449. Also at the show, is the iRoar Go, which packs 5 drivers with a built-in subwoofer for full range audio. JBL
JBL is at both shows too, but the JBL Flip 3 is slightly cheaper at CEE 2017, as it can be had for $129 instead of $139. That’s down from the original price of $179 so either way, it’s a good price for the portable splashproof Bluetooth speaker.
Otherwise, look at the JBL Xtreme. This is going for $299 at CEE 2017, down from the usual price of $399. This rugged speaker connects to your smart device over Bluetooth and features a high-capacity 10,000mAh battery for up to 15 hours of playtime.
Klipsch
Klipsch is showing out at both shows this time and they’ve got their latest The Three Heritage Wireless speakers on display. These vintage looking speakers feature real wood veneer top and tactile spun copper switches and knobs along with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. There’s even a phono pre-amp input so you can hook it up to your turntable! They’re going for $669, down from the usual price of $699, and you’ll get an additional $50 purchase-with-purchase voucher too.
Samsung
Samsung has soundbars for sale at PC Show 2017, and some of them come with purchase-with-purchase bundles. For example, the HWM450XS here is going for just $399, down from the usual price of $449. Add $59 for a Digital Antenna and HDMI cable bundle.
Otherwise, take a look at the HWM360XS. This is going at show price of $299, down from the usual price of $379. As with the soundbar above, you can add $59 for a Digital Antenna and HDMI cable bundle.
Sonos
Sonos is also at both PC Show 2017 and CEE 2017. And they’re offering 5% of all speakers so the Sonos Sub can be had for just $1234 instead of the usual price of $1299.
This time though, the multi-room music bundles include the brand new Playbase, so can for example, get a simple 3.1 setup with Playbase, Sub and Bridge for $2398 instead of the usual price of $2598. Find out more about the Playbase here.

Spotted at CEE 2017, is the new HT-MT500 soundbar. We’re told this high-resolution audio capable speaker can be had for about 5% off the retail price of $1099, so you should expect to be able to pick it up for about $1044.05.
Otherwise, check out the HT-CT290. This usually retails for $449, but purchase it with any Bravia TV at the show, and the price drops down to $399. That’s a good price for this soundbar system that offers 2.1 Ch surround sound and features S-Force PRO Front Surround technology for immersive, cinema-style sound.
Ultimate Ears
Ultimate Ears are at both shows this time round, and a selection of their speakers are on sale. Take for example, the UE Boom 2. Waterproof and drop proof, the speaker is available in a range of colorways and is going for just $199 at the shows. Find out more about the speaker here.

The Dell Inspiron 13 5000 2-in-1 is a 13.3-inch convertible powered by an Intel Core i5-7200U processor, 8GB of DDR4 memory, and a 256GB SSD. The Netgear Nighthawk X10 is one of the few routers in the market to support the new super fast 802.11ad standard. Although not a true mesh networking system, the Netgear Orbi has gained a reputation for being one of the most effective Wi-Fi systems for large homes. TP-Link
