Update (Dec 11, 2013): What do you know? Google is now pushing Android 4.4.2 to Nexus devices, mere days after 4.4.1 is released, bringing yet more software fixes and security enhancements. The good folks over at Android Police have all the OTA zip links for those adventurous enough to do their own manual updating.

Update (Dec 9, 2013): Here's the Android 4.4.1 OTA update file for the Nexus 5 (link). The OTA update is also available for the Nexus 4 (link), the 2013 Nexus 7 (link for the LTE model, link for the Wi-Fi model), and the Nexus 10 (link). We've linked to the OTA zip files for those who can't wait for the update to appear on their devices, and know how to install them manually, adb sideload and all.

Five weeks after the availability of the LG Nexus 5, Google released Android 4.4.1 update for the smartphone which will bring significant improvements to its rear 8-megapixel camera.
According to Google, the update will bring faster focusing, especially in low light, faster white balancing, for truer colors, the ability to pinch-zoom the viewfinder in HDR+ mode and less shutter lag.
We recently reviewed the Nexus 5 and felt that its camera imaging quality could be better. We also noticed the shutter lag on several occasions and hoped that Google would do more to improve the imaging aspect of the Nexus smartphones.

With the Android 4.4.1 update "rolling out today", our prayers are answered. The Verge has an exclusive session to test out the Nexus 5 with Android 4.4.1 update. Do check out their article if you are interested to see how much the camera has improved.
At time of publication, our Nexus 5 unit has yet to receive the update. We do recommend fellow Nexus 5 users to be patient as it will take some time for the update to roll out to our regions.
