iOS 18 could make the iPhone home screen more customisable

iOS 18 is tipped to make the home screen of the iPhone more customisable.

Aside from sharing details of its ongoing AI work later this year, Apple is also rumoured to make the home screen of the iPhone more customisable with iOS 18.

Bloomberg shared briefly two days ago that the iPhone could get a "more customisable" home screen with iOS 18, but did not provide specific details. However, MacRumors claims to have more insights based on information from its sources.

Sources told MacRumors that iOS 18 users would be given more flexibility in arranging icons on the home screen such as the option to have blank spaces, rows, and columns between apps. Despite these new customisation options, app icons are likely to still be restricted to the current grid system on the home screen.

The ability to customise the home screen is expected to be an extension of the customisable lock screen features that rolled out to the iPhone in iOS 16 and the iPad in iPadOS 17.

Apple will preview iOS 18 at WWDC 2024 in June where it is also rumoured to show off an enhanced Siri with generative AI.
