Apple may have been quiet so far when it comes to matters regarding AI, but that doesn't mean that they are sitting still and doing nothing.

According to a report by Statista, Apple acquired a staggering 32 AI startup companies last year. And to give that number more context, look at how it compares to its biggest rivals:

  • Apple - 32
  • Alphabet/Google - 21
  • Meta - 18
  • Microsoft - 17
  • Amazon - 10

This aggressive acquisition of AI talent is probably why Apple CEO Tim Cook recently said during the company's quarterly earning calls that Apple is "excited to share the details" of its ongoing work in AI later this year.

Furthermore, the report also stated that Apple's stake in AI-related equities and add-on investment is greater than its rivals (in terms of portfolio percentages). 21% of Apple's portfolio is in AI compared to Microsoft's 12% and Alphabet's 8%.

has also spent the most on equity and add-on investment in AI technologies since 2017

Most recently, it was reported that Apple is planning to acquire a German AI startup called Brighter AI to improve the privacy technology of its Vision Pro headset.
