Mark Gurman of Bloomberg wrote in his latest Power On newsletter that the new Mac mini will not have USB-A ports.

He also said that the M4 Pro Mac mini will retain its Ethernet port, HDMI port, and headphone jack. It will also get five USB-C ports with three at the back and two at the front. This is one USB-C port more than the current M2 Pro Mac mini.

Gurman did not specify the number of USB-C ports on the M4 Mac mini, but we can expect at least two USB-C ports since the M2 Mac mini has two. Gurman previously wrote that Apple is testing Mac mini models with at least three USB-C ports.

The upcoming Mac mini update is said to be the biggest in over a decade – at least insofar as design is concerned. The Apple design team reportedly dubbed the M4 Mac mini "an iPad Pro in a small box".

The M4 Mac mini should be announced alongside the MacBook Pro and iMac sometime in October.
