Qualcomm has announced PCs powered by its Snapdragon X Elite (read more about our Snapdragon X Elite breakdown here) and Snapdragon X Plus, making its long-awaited entry into the Copilot+ AI PC space in partnership with Microsoft.

Traditionally dominated by Intel and AMD (and now Apple), the PC market is now seeing another contender that promises a lot. The new Snapdragon X family not only promises impressive performance and efficiency with extended battery life, but also includes a robust Hexagon Neural Processing Unit (NPU). This NPU, central to the Windows 11 AI revolution, delivers up to 45 TOPS compute. It can handle tasks like image editing, text-to-image generation, and text creation directly on the device, eliminating the need for cloud processing.

According to Gartner's recent rankings, the top six notebook manufacturers globally are Lenovo, HP, Dell, AppleASUS, and Acer. Excluding Apple, which uses its own silicon, it’s worth noting that all five are gearing up to release notebooks powered by either the Snapdragon X Elite or Snapdragon X Plus processors outside of its own Intel and/or AMD range.
