Microsoft’s Copilot+ AI notebooks have up to now, been powered only by Qualcomm processors, but that is set to change with Microsoft announcing that we will see Copilot+ enabled notebooks powered by the AMD Ryzen AI 300 and Intel’s Core Ultra 200V processors arriving in November.
This news follows the launch of intel’s Core Ultra 200V processors or collectively the Core Ultra Series 2 during an event held before IFA 2024 in Berlin.
Previously, Microsoft claimed that Copilot+ devices would be capable of delivering 40+ TOPS (trillion operations per second), all–day battery life, and have access to the most advanced AI models that can be processed on the device.
AMD had said that their AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and the AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 processors would be capable of delivering 50 NPU TOPS, while Intel claimed its Lunar Lake processors would deliver over 40 NPU TOPS and over 60 GPU TOPS – giving the processors more than 100 platform TOPS.
In terms of battery life, according to our editor who was at the Lunar Lake launch, Acer, ASUS, and Dell are all claiming devices with continuous video playback will deliver a battery life around the 25- to 27-hour mark.
One such Copilot+ device is the LG gram 16 Pro that will come powered by the Intel Core Ultra processor Series 2, that according to LG, can deliver up to 48 NPU TOPS and up to 67 GPU TOPS.

Like they had previously said, Microsoft reiterated that eligible AMD- and Intel-powered devices will begin to see receive new AI capabilities starting in November through free Windows updates with timing and availability varying by device and region.
