Word on the street is Apple is going to preview a standalone app dedicated to gaming at the upcoming WWDC 2025.
Said gaming app will replace Game Center and be used to promote Apple Arcade and third-party games from the App Store.
As for Mac users, the dedicated gaming app will enable them to “tap into” games that are downloaded outside the Mac App Store.
9to5Mac reported about this gaming hub as early as October 2024. Sources told 9to5Mac that the gaming hub has several tabs such as a “Play Now” tab which will let users hop into games quickly.
Other rumoured features include challenges, leaderboards, achievements, and possible integration with FaceTime and iMessage for gamers to communicate with each other.
The standalone gaming app will reportedly come preinstalled on every new iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV later this year alongside the release of new software versions on these devices.
