Apple is reportedly preparing one of its most extensive Mac refresh cycles in years, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

MacBook Pro

The MacBook Pro lineup is rumoured to be receiving two updates this year. The first, slated for the “first half of the year”, is said to be a minor refresh featuring the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, along with Apple’s new N1 networking chip.

A second, more substantial update is expected towards the “end of 2026”. This refresh is believed to introduce a thinner and lighter design - the first major redesign in more than five years – alongside several long-anticipated updates. Apple is expected to drop the display notch, switch to an OLED panel, and add a touchscreen.

MacBook Air

The MacBook Air is also expected to receive a modest update in the first half of the year, with the M5 chip and possibly the N1 chip. However, users hoping for an OLED display may need to wait until 2028, according to Gurman.

Mac mini

After launching a redesigned Mac mini in 2024, Apple is unlikely to introduce major changes to the model this year. Instead, the 2026 Mac mini is believed to focus on a chipset upgrade, with Gurman suggesting it could launch with the M6 chip in the second half of the year.

Mac Studio

Apple’s compact desktop aimed at professionals is believed to come with an M5 Max chip and possibly an Ultra variant. The Mac Studio was last updated in March 2025 with M4 Max and M3 Ultra.

Low-cost MacBook

A rumoured low-cost MacBook is expected to debut in the second half of the year. As a recap, it is tipped to feature a 13-inch display, an A18 Pro chip, and four colour options (silver, blue, pink, and yellow). Retail prices are said to be in the region of between US$599 and US$699 (~S$771 and S$900), which would make it significantly cheaper than the MacBook Air.

Studio Display 2

Apple’s standalone desktop monitor is also due for a long-awaited refresh. Previous reports indicate that the Studio Display 2 will support variable refresh rates of up to 120Hz, HDR content, and a mini-LED panel.
