Anker issued a recall for more than 1.1 million power banks, specifically the PowerCore 10000 power bank with the model number A1263.
In a joint recall notice posted on the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website, Anker says the recall is initiated "out of an abundance of caution" over a fire safety risk.
Anker attributes the fire safety risk to a potential issue with the lithium-ion battery, which can overheat and lead to the melting of plastic components, smoke, and fire hazards.
Anker has identified the affected units, which were manufactured between 1 January 2016 and 30 October 2019, and sold between 1 June 2016 and 31 December 2022, in the US.
If you purchased the Anker PowerCore 10000 power bank (A1263) in the US, you can locate the serial number at the bottom of the device and verify it against Anker's online tool.
Even though customers here in Singapore are not entitled to a replacement or voucher to offset their purchases like they are in the US, it's a good idea to start using a new power bank to avoid a fire risk.

**Update on 29 June 2025**
Anker issued a second recall for five power bank models that were sold globally, including Singapore. Of the five, four models were sold in Singapore. They are:
- Anker Power Bank (10K, 22.5W) A1257
- Anker Power Bank (20,000mAh, 22.5W, Built-in USB-C Cable) A1647
- Anker Zolo Power Bank (20K, 30W, Built-in USB-C and Lightning Cable) A1681
- Anker Zolo Power Bank (20K, 30W, Built-in USB-C Cable) A1689
Anker says a proactive review of previously produced power banks revealed a potential issue with the common lithium-ion battery cell from a vendor. Although the likelihood of malfunction is minimal, Anker decided to initiate a voluntary global recall out of an abundance of caution.
How to identify if your Anker power bank is affected
How to check if your power bank is affected
- Check the model number at the bottom or side of your power bank to see if it matches any of the following model numbers (A1257, A1647, A1681, A1689).
- If it matches, verify the serial number or submit the proof of purchase on Anker’s recall form. Note that Anker does not use the letters “O” or “I” in their serial numbers. Do not confuse them with the numbers “1” and “O”.
- Once your power bank is confirmed to be part of the recall, please stop using the product and submit the recall claim form. Wait for further instructions.
- You can request a replacement power bank or a gift card that is redeemable on Anker’s official Lazada store.
