Apple is now expected to unveil the new iPad Pro and iPad Air in early May.

Apple is now expected to unveil the new iPad Pro and iPad Air in early May.

The launch timeline for the new Apple iPad Pro and iPad Air models has shifted to early May according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. The initial launch timeline for the new devices was the end of March or early April.

While overseas suppliers have scaled up production of the new tablets, Apple is said to be still working on the software updates for the devices. In addition, the technical challenges in manufacturing the OLED panels for the iPad Pros have led to this delay.

Seeing how close early May is to WWC 2024, there's a chance Apple might choose to unveil its new iPads at WWDC instead.

Bloomberg reported in January 2023 that a "major iPad Pro revamp" is slated for this year. The upcoming iPad Pros are expected to be powered by Apple's M3 chip, have OLED panels, and sport a new design including a landscape FaceTime camera.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo wrote in late 2023 that the 2024 iPad lineup refresh could include a larger 12.9-inch iPad Air alongside the standard 10.9-inch model.

The delayed launch of the new iPad Pro and iPad Air might not be a bad thing after all. At least it gives us more time to save up!
