Mark your calendars, folks. Apple has just announced that WWDC 2024 will be happening this year from 10 June to 14 June.

Apple has also recently confirmed that the keynote will take place on 10 June, Monday, 10am PT. This means it's happening on 11 June, Tuesday, 1am SGT.

If you are new to Apple, WWDC is the annual event where Apple details updates to its operating systems. This means iOS, macOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, and for this year, perhaps also visionOS.

We could also see new hardware. At WWDC 2023 last year, Apple unveiled the 15-inch MacBook Air and also the Vision Pro headset.

This year's event is likely to be centred around AI. A report last month said that Apple acquired 32 AI startups last year, and CEO Tim Cook has said that the company is "excited to share the details" of its work in AI.

Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, Greg Joswiak, also said in a tweet that WWDC 2024 is going to be "Absolutely Incredible". Notice how he deliberately capitalised the first two letters of the words because they spell "AI".

There's little news of new hardware, but there's a good chance we'll see updated versions of the Mac Studio and Mac Pro. Word on the street is that the Mac mini will not be getting an M3 update and will skip straight to the M4 chip. Speaking of M4, I'm not expecting to see any M4-powered Macs at the event mostly because the chip is built on a new process and yields are said to be low.

The other piece of hardware news is regarding the Vision Pro headset. Reports say it will likely launch in 10 other countries after WWDC 2024.
