Stocks of the sixth-generation iPad mini are said to be running low at many Apple stores.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, he said stocks are “constrained”, which leads him to believe that a new model is on the horizon.

This is plausible considering the impending launch of Apple Intelligence. Apple will likely want to refresh as many products as possible to ensure compatibility with its new AI platform.

The current sixth-generation iPad mini is powered by the A15 Bionic, which will not be able to run Apple Intelligence.

The latest rumour surrounding the iPad mini is that the new model is expected to be powered by the A17 Pro or better chip. This would enable it to support Apple Intelligence.

The timing also makes sense because Apple just announced that it’s holding an event on 9 September, where it will likely announce the new iPhone 16 series and Apple Watches.

Interestingly, the sixth-generation iPad mini was unveiled in 2021 alongside the iPhone 13 series, so it’s possible Apple might take the opportunity to announce a new iPad mini.

Even if it doesn’t, Apple is also rumoured to be holding an event in October to announce new Macs, so it might wait until then to make the announcement.
