When Synaptics announced its ClearForce technology last month, it mentioned that it has already started working with leading global OEMs to ship pressure-sensitive displays on smartphones in early 2016. Could one of them be Xiaomi?

According to Chinese tech blog MyDrivers, Xiaomi will not be developing its own pressure-sensitive display technology. It will partner with Synaptics to use the ClearForce technology on its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Mi 5.

As a recap, Synaptics' ClearForce technology allows new touch interactions such as speed scrolling, zoom, gaming, text or photo editing by applying variable force with a finger or stylus. Huawei is the first to announce a phone with a Force Touch display while Apple brought its 3D Touch technology to the masses with the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus

Another serious contender in this realm is Samsung; the company filed a patent titled "Touch Input Apparatus and Electronic Device Having Thereof" in April 2014 and it could be incorporated in the Galaxy S7 which will be released in January 2016.
