Samsung sold 100,000 Galaxy S7 and S7 edge units in Korea in two days

That's a whooping 2,000 units of Galaxy S7 and S7 edge sold per hour over two days in South Korea!

Yonhap News reports that Samsung is estimated to have sold 100,000 units of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge in the first two days of sales in Korea. This works out to be slightly over 2,000 units per hour over the two-day period.

Citing information from local industry sources, Yonhap News also claims that 60,000 units were sold on the first day while the remaining 40,000 units were sold on the second day. 40% of the sales are attributed to the Galaxy S7 edge while the Galaxy S7 took the bulk of the sales. This contradicts an earlier report by mobile industry veteran Eldar Murtazin whose sources told him that more consumers preferred the Galaxy S7 edge to the Galaxy S7 in pre-orders.

In comparison, Samsung sold 200,000 units of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge last year in the first 10 days of retail availability. Looking at the sales momentum, it is likely that Samsung will surpass the Galaxy S6 sales shortly. To find out more about the pair of smartphones, do read our comprehensive review.
