Samsung may have a pair of winners on its hands this year as pre-order stats obtained by mobile industry veteran Eldar Murtazin suggest that the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are set to break records.

In a series of tweets, Murtazin claims that pre-orders are likely to set new records everywhere including his country, Russia. In addition, he stated that the Galaxy S7 edge constitutes 64% of the pre-orders while the rest is for the Galaxy S7. The most popular color is no longer gold; it is black onyx.

We did a check on the forum thread "Anyone Excited About Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge?" and found similar reports. One forum member, cutebeng, posted that pre-orders have reached a maximum at the Samsung Experience Store in Westgate while another forum user, kons45, claimed that the outlet at Ang Mo Kio no longer had black units for pre-order with Great World City having one unit left.

South Korea's Electronic Times reported in December 2015 that Samsung planned for an initial batch of five million Galaxy S7 units, of which 3.3 million units are allocated for the Galaxy S7 and the remaining 1.7 million for the Galaxy S7 edge. Let's just hope Samsung does not repeat the same mistake last year when it underestimated the demand for the Galaxy S6 edge.
