Samsung reportedly shipped 9.5 million units of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge in Q1

Samsung is likely to get back on track for its mobile business this year as Korea Investment & Securities reported better than expected estimates for the sales of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.

Arguably the best Android smartphones in the market at the moment, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will help Samsung get back on track in the mobile business this year.

According to CNBC, Korea Investment & Securities estimates that Samsung shipped 9.5 million units of the Galaxy S7 models in the first quarter which is higher than the initial estimate of 7 million units. Sell-in numbers are reportedly good and analysts are raising their sales forecasts for the phones this year.

"The firm is pushing up volume in the mid-to-low tier to protect market share. Starting S7 sales about a month earlier than the S6 to take advantage of Apple not having new products out yet was also a good move."

There could be a possibility that the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are bigger hits than expected; SamMobile reported last month that there were over 10 million pre-orders in China. Yonhap News also claimed that 100,000 units were sold in Korea within two days!
