Samsung doubles first shipments of Galaxy S8 in anticipation of huge demand

Samsung is very confident of the Galaxy S8 smartphone as it is said to have almost doubled the first shipments of the devices for launch.

Following the closure of the Note7 crisis last month, Samsung is going full steam ahead for the launch of its next flagship smartphone.

According to The Bell, Samsung has almost doubled the first shipments of the Galaxy S8 smartphones compared to the Galaxy S7. 10 million OLED panels are supposedly set aside for the Galaxy S8 while another 6 million OLED panels are reserved for the bigger Galaxy S8+. The first shipment figure is said  to be about 40% higher than the 12 million units for the launch of the Galaxy S7 last year.

The Investor reported last month that Samsung aims to ship about 60 million units of the Galaxy S8 this year. Both phones are believed to be announced at an event on 29 March in New York City with retail availability in April.
