Samsung DeX, a feature that offers Galaxy users a desktop-like experience by connecting their phone or tablet to an external display device or PC, will lose support for its Windows app next month

Spotted on the Samsung UK website, a fine print reads that "the DeX for PC on Windows OS will end support from One UI 7 version". One UI 7 is slated to launch alongside the unveiling of the Galaxy S25 series in the second half of January 2025.

The company recommends users connect their mobile device and PC using the Link to Windows feature. Link to Windows offers functions similar to Samsung DeX without the need for a wired connection.

To be clear, only the Windows app has been discontinued and not the DeX feature itself. Users will still be able to extend their phones' screens on a PC by connecting a keyboard, mouse, and monitor.

DeX made its debut on the Galaxy S8 in 2017.
