The smaller variant of the G6 which was reported by TechnoBuffalo in May turns out to be LG's latest midrange Q6 smartphone.
As part of its new midrange Q series, the LG Q6 inherits some of the premium features from the G6 flagship model. The Q6 boasts a 5.5-inch 18:9 Full HD+ (2,160 x 1,080 pixels) FullVIsion Display with minimized bezels. That's a slightly smaller screen and a lower resolution than what the G6 offers. Like the G6, the new Q6 also has a metal frame made up of ultra-strong 7000 series aluminum with rounded corners to match the display. The Q6 is available in three models which are differentiated by the amount of RAM, internal storage space and color options:
- Q6+: 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage space, color options of astro black, ice platinum and marine blue
- Q6: 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage space, color options of astro black, ice platinum, mystic white and terra gold
- Q6α: 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage space, color options of astro black, ice platinum and terra gold
“The LG Q6 is a blend of premium features, great performance and attractive pricing, a combination that is extremely important to us as we look at the way consumers are using smartphones around the world,” said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The Q series is our way of getting the superb experiences with the essence of the LG’s premium line-ups to more consumers’ hands and pockets.”
All three Q6 models will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 mobile platform, Android 7.1.1 Nougat and a non-removable 3,000mAh battery. Other common specs include a rear 13-megapixel standard angle camera, a front-facing 5MP wide-angle camera, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, USB Type-B 2.0 and 4G LTE support.
LG states that the Q6 will be available in retail stores in key Asian markets starting from August followed by availability in Europe, Latin America and North America.
