LG to launch its flagship smartphones earlier than expected?

Two of its upcoming flagship phone models might be launched earlier than expected.

To get a head start on its rivals, LG is said to be moving up the launch schedule of its flagship phone models by several months.

Korean publication Aju Business Daily claims that the research and development has started last month for the LG G7 phone and it could be launched in January 2018. Its next high-profile handset, the V30 might also see an earlier launch this year; the V30 is rumored to debut in August. A LG spokesperson said that "nothing has been decided on the launch schedule of the upcoming phones".

An earlier launch of new handsets could help sustain the sales momentum in the months ahead especially when Samsung is likely to launch the Galaxy Note 8 and Apple celebrating the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. To remain competitive, LG is also said to be using OLED displays for its phones from Q3 2017 starting with the V30.

This year could be one of the busiest for LG as it would be launching two new G6 variants to support its mobile payment service, LG Pay. Google is also reportedly partnering with LG to manufacture the Pixel smartphones this year.
