We've reported numerous rumors on the iPhone 7 in the past few months, but the latest leak takes the cake!
Foxconn, which is reportedly manufacturing the iPhone 7 Plus, recently held an in-house symposium where there was one particular slide detailing the new features of the iPhone 7 Plus. Based on the image on the slide, we can see that the upcoming smartphone will have:
- antenna lines on the side under each corner
- iOS 10 pre-installed
- water resistance
- wireless charging
- a pair of 12-megapixel cameras on the tear
Redesigned antenna lines for the iPhone has been reported previously; Apple has a patent for a new material to mask the antenna lines for the iPhone and a reliable source told MacRumors that the iPhone 7 will be ditching the ugly antenna bands which span across the existing iPhone 6 series.
Research firm TrendForce first reported on the possibility of a waterproofing feature for the iPhone 7 which is corroborated by Chinese site Storm. Apparently, Apple will replace the current hardware button with a digital touch sensitive button which will help the company come up with a water and dust resistant chassis.
The new touch-sensitive button was also confirmed by analysts at Cowen and Company who did "field checks" and concluded that there will be a "Force Touch home button". Quoting information from a source with knowledge of Apple's plans, Fast Company claimed that the iPhone 7 will support wireless charging and waterproofing.
The dual-camera setup for the iPhone 7 Plus is perhaps the most talked about feature and there are numerous images and reports supporting it. For example, cases of the iPhone 7 Plus sport a larger camera cutout and renders of the product show a dual-camera setup. Steve Hemmerstoffer, editor of NowhereElse.fr, obtained a purported dual-camera module of the iPhone 7 Plus and leaked blueprints of the phones reveal the two cameras on the back.
