Apple may have found a solution to mask the ugly antenna lines that follow the upper and lower perimeter of its iPhone 6 models.
According to the U.S Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Apple has filed a patent on a composite material that resembles anodized metal and still enables wireless signals to pass through. What this means is that Apple could potentially design cleaner looking devices by masking the antenna lines.
If you recall, Apple faced an "antennagate" crisis with its iPhone 4 in 2010 when the placement of antenna in the steel band caused signal issues when users wrapped their hands around the phone. This resulted in Apple releasing the iPhone 4S with a redesigned antenna and the subsequent iPhone models having the unsightly antenna lines encased in plastic bands.
With Apple incorporating more wireless technologies such as NFC into its products, this patent could be put to good use.
