Despite KGI Securities shooting rumors of a new 4-inch iPhone model, another report has surfaced claiming that Apple is still working on one.

According to Chinese publication Economic Daily News, Apple has inked a deal with display manufacturer AU Optronics to supply 4-inch displays for an upcoming iPhone. While most reports so far indicated a launch this September, Economic Daily News claims that the new 4-inch iPhone (also known as the iPhone 7C) will be shipped in the first quarter of 2016.

An analyst from Cowen and Company first reported of a new 4-inch iPhone last year where he quoted information from sources that an "iPhone 6S mini" is in the works. DigiTimes followed up with a report in March that consumers can expect three new iPhone models this year with the 4-inch model known as the iPhone 6C.

In April, mobile parts reseller Future Supplier obtained an alleged plastic rear cover of the iPhone 6C which shows some design changes. Ubergizmo claimed in May that Apple has been hogging up orders of Sony's mobile camera sensors of the iPhone 6C.
