Apple reportedly buying up all Sony camera sensors

Apple is (always) planning something big. So big, in fact, that the company had reportedly been hogging up the orders of Sony's proprietary camera sensors, much to the chagrin of other smartphone manufacturers.

According to Ubergizmo, the new batch of camera sensors will supposedly be used in the construction of the company's upcoming iPhone 6c. Many rumors surrounding the phone are sketchy on details, such as whether or not the phone will have the same four inch display and plastic body just as its predecessor, the iPhone 5c, did.

Needless to say, because of Apple's wholesale purchase, many of its competitors have been forced to resort to purchasing camera sensors from other brands, such as Samsung, Toshiba and OmniVision. Companies such as Huawei have also reported that because of Apple, only 50 percent of their current shipment of smartphones will have Sony's sensor installed in them, while the remainder will be built using a different camera sensor.
