Nikkei Asian Review reports that Apple is likely to take three years to introduce a major upgrade of the iPhone. Currently, the iPhone maker is relying on a two-year cycle. The publication cites the lack of innovation in smartphone features and a slowing market.
This new strategy is expected to affect Apple's suppliers drastically as they depend heavily on the sales of the iPhone. With sales of the iPhone 7 predicted to be lower than the iPhone 6s, suppliers will have lesser orders and revenue. In addition, the iPhone 7 is shaping up to be an iterative update based on the rumors and leaks.
The publication believes the iPhone 7 will have improved camera quality, water resistance and a bigger battery capacity. For the 2017 iPhone, Nikkei Asian Review agrees that it will sport major enhancements and design changes.
