There’s big news about Apple’s next iPhone SE. According to 9to5 Mac’s sources, the next iPhone SE would have a new modern look as well as significant upgrades to its performance and camera.

The next iPhone SE will reportedly ditch the Touch ID button and feature Face ID. According to 9to5 Mac’s report, it will look similar to the iPhone 14 and have a 6.1-inch display with a resolution of 1170 x 2532 pixels.

Curiously, the report says the screen will have a notch but not the Dynamic Island feature, which will remain exclusive to Apple’s pricier models.

Sources say the next iPhone SE will support Apple Intelligence and will likely be powered by Apple’s new A18 chip – the same chip used in the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus.

As for cameras, the new iPhone SE will reportedly have the same 48MP wide camera and 12MP front camera as the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. It will, however, not have any ultra wide or telephoto cameras.

The report also says the iPhone SE will feature Apple’s first in-house 5G modem chip. The chip will likely also handle Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS connectivity.

Apple’s in-house modem efforts have met with numerous hiccups, and it is believed that the company would like to debut it in a lower-volume product. The iPhone SE would be the perfect opportunity for Apple to give its modem chip a shakedown.

The next iPhone SE is widely expected to be unveiled early next year. The last iPhone SE was released in early 2022.
