When will Singapore get Apple Intelligence?

There’s some confusion surrounding the availability of Apple Intelligence in Singapore, so let me clear that up now.

There's some confusion as to when Apple Intelligence will be available in Singapore. This mainly has to do with the fact that we’ve known for some time now that Apple Intelligence will make its grand debut with iOS 18.1 as well as iPadOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1, and that these updates will drop sometime in October.

However, at the recent iPhone launch, Apple also said that it would be adding localised English support for more countries. Singapore is one of these countries and Apple said that localised English support for Singapore would be arriving next year.

Does this mean we will only get Apple Intelligence next year? Well, yes and no.

The good news is that as long as your language is set to US English, users in Singapore can get access to Apple Intelligence next month when iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 drop.

The downside to this is that because it’s US English, the models used and results generated are therefore geared towards US users.

It's unclear at this point what impact this will have, but it probably means that it might have trouble understanding our accent and it probably will not understand requests that are hyperlocal, for example, “Create a Genmoji of a char siew bao”.

What I'd recommend readers to do is set your language to US English so that you can start using Apple Intelligence when it’s available next month. Then switch to Singapore English when localised English support becomes available next year.

Hope this clears things up.
