Apple is reportedly considering price increases for the iPhone 17.

Sources familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal that Apple considered cost-saving measures from suppliers, but this effort may not be enough to offset the impact of US tariffs on Chinese imports.

The iPhone maker is also wary of potential backlash from the Trump administration if it publicly attributes the price hike to tariffs.

When the trade war between the US and China began, analysts estimated that iPhone prices could increase by 43%. However, that scenario has become slightly less likely following the latest 90-day agreement between the two countries to reduce reciprocal tariffs.

Even so, Apple could still raise the prices of the iPhone 17 to maintain its profit margin and to cushion itself from any changes to tariff agreements. Apple would most likely justify the price increase by pointing out new features and design changes.

Recent reports suggest that Apple will adopt a new camera bar design for the iPhone 17. The new design is believed to enable a more thermally efficient layout and improve sensor separation for enhanced depth mapping.

Rumoured new features include an upgraded telephoto camera, enhanced video recording capabilities, and a vapour chamber cooling system.

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 lineup sometime in September.
