Apple ended the era of point-and-shoot with the release of the iPhone. Now, Bloomberg says the iPhone maker aims to kill off the vlogging camera.
According to the Bloomberg report, Apple plans to use the upgraded video recording capabilities of the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro to attract the vlogging community and other video creators.
While Apple has been making great strides in the video recording capabilities on the iPhone, there is one persistent issue it must resolve and one feature to bring onboard before it can replace vlogging cameras.
The first issue is a longstanding one and it's lens flare in videos when shooting directly at light sources at night. This problem has plagued iPhones for years and despite reports of a new anti-reflective coating on the newest iPhone 16 cameras, lens flare remains a bugbear for many users.
The second wishlist item is support for 8K video recording, which flagship Android phones have offered for several years. While the ability to shoot 8K may be overkill for the average consumer, it comes in handy for content creators as it allows cropping for 4K without affecting the video quality.
Bloomberg did not share specifics on what to expect from the iPhone 17 Pro, but if history is any indication, Apple will have other tricks up its sleeves.
