Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has shared new details on Apple’s lower-cost Vision Pro, a model he first reported on in June.

According to Kuo, the device could launch as the Vision Air. It is expected to be more than 40% lighter than the current Vision Pro, which weighs between 600 and 650g.

In terms of pricing, the Vision Air is projected to be over 50% cheaper than the existing model. Since the base Vision Pro is S$5,299, the Vision Air could cost around S$2,650. That would position it just above the S$2,499 iPhone 16 Pro Max (1TB) and below the 14-inch MacBook Pro (M4 Pro).

Rumours of a lower-cost Vision Pro have been circulating since 2023. Bloomberg previously reported that Apple was working on one with fewer cameras and sensors, a less powerful chip, and lower-quality displays. Bloomberg’s pricing forecast also aligns closely with Kuo’s latest claims.

The Vision Air is said to be part of Apple’s two-pronged strategy to a) broaden the appeal of the Vision lineup and b) address key complaints from early adopters, such as the heavy form factor and neck strain.

Kuo expects the Vision Air to launch in 2027 and Apple is expected to ship around 1 million units.
