The Apple Vision Pro is priced at US$3,499.
Apple might launch a more affordable version of its Vision Pro device in 2025.
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg claims the iPhone maker is "already at work on a cheaper version of the headset". Gurman says the more affordable model could be called Apple Vision or Apple Vision One.
Since the most expensive components in the Vision Pro are the cameras and sensors, Apple chips and twin 4K micro-OLED displays, Gurman believes the non-pro model will come with fewer cameras/sensors, a less powerful chip and lower quality displays.
Apple might lower the costs further by using a simpler headband design, a physical IPD adjustment and doing away with the 3D camera.
While the non-pro model is slated for release as early as end 2025, Apple is also rumoured to be working on a second-generation Vision Pro with a faster chipset.
We recently tried the Apple Vision Pro at WWDC 2023 and found the demos to be impressive, especially the Immersive Video Format and the "spatial computing" features. However, the real-world utility is far from certain as we don't see a clear purpose or "killer app" for the Vision Pro yet.
