Samsung’s first XR headset could debut in late October.

Industry sources claim that the Samsung XR headset, codenamed Project Moohan, is expected to be unveiled at an online event on Wednesday, 22 October, with shipments estimated to be in the region of around 100,000 units.

An earlier leak by tipster Ice Universe suggested a 29 September launch, but Samsung reportedly delayed the announcement due to “internal marketing strategy coordination and quality assurance”.

To appeal to the mainstream consumers, Samsung is believed to have priced its XR headset in the high 2 million Korean won range (~S$2,700). The XR headset is also rumoured to feature corrective lenses co-developed with eyewear brands.

The XR headset will be powered by Google’s Android XR platforma dedicated OS for extended reality devices – and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset.

Aside from the XR headset, Samsung is said to be prepping the release of a pair of XR glasses (codenamed HAEAN and developed in collaboration with Google) early next year, while its first tri-fold phone, the Galaxy Z Fold, is expected to launch later this year in November.
