As expected, the delayed roll-out of the "more personalised Siri" has pushed back the launch of Apple's rumoured wall-mounted AI smart home display.

Initially slated for launch in Q1, Bloomberg reports that Apple is "considering a delay until 2026" for the wall-mounted AI smart home display due to "major engineering hiccups" with Siri. This is likely to affect the development and launch of other purported smart home devices in the pipeline, which reportedly include a Face ID doorbell and an IP camera.

The wall-mounted AI smart home display is described to function as "a command center for the home" with Siri and video call features. The AI smart home display is rumoured to feature several sensors that can adjust its features according to the user's proximity. Additionally, it will ship with a new operating system for smart home devices, known as homeOS.

Bloomberg says Apple continues to test the AI smart home display, with some employees trialling the device in their homes. Bloomberg does not expect the product to contribute significantly in revenue, but it is seen as a stepping stone toward more advanced smart home devices in the future.
